Just received photos from a landslide below Kendal Yards into the river. Doesn’t look to be threatening any structures but it shows you the erosive power of nature and the river! We’re going to go and check it out and report back.
Hangman Creek rose this week after all the rainfall we’ve had. High enough for a float through the canyon but also brings lots of sediment pollution to the river.
The Little Spokane River watershed has some amazing tributaries and wetlands, but what is up with the fence across the creek and all these no access signs?
I’m not sure what those resources look like in this case but we will keep working on it.
Our work at the Spokane Riverkeeper is to protect the Spokane River. We don’t want to criminalize homelessness but instead give people the resources they need to protect the river.
As far as we can tell this was the result of 2 people living on the riverbanks for 1.5 months.

On Thursday and Friday we helped the City of Spokane remove 8,500 pounds of garbage from the banks of the river. 5 full raft loads.
