Kind of struck by how the VA redraw was *extremely* brazen compared to CA
Going from 43-9 to 48-4 is really kind of minor compared to going from 6-5 to 10-1
CA went from 82% â> 92% D seats
VA went from 55% â> 91% D seats
And they released the map in advance! It was kind of insane! lmao

Blue Ridge born and raised, I'm fired up beyond words by the chance to represent this beautiful new VA-6. From Charlottesville to Lynchburg, Rocktown to Roanoke, we're fighting to bring down costs and bring back our civil liberties. Together, let's turn the Blue Ridge blue!
Our one seat Senate majority is on the ballot NEXT YEAR- if you chip in $50 tonight I will send you a special shirt to remember this night forever! If you canât do that much just donate any amount and we will try to find a match so you get a shirt also.

So much false equivalence in media on gerrymandering in Texas vs California & Virginia. California and Virginia maps approved by the voters. That's a huge difference not enough people pointing out
Here's how the big 5 NoVa localities voted:
Yes outran Harris in all of them
(and asterisk on 2026 because the Yes margin could tick up a little with provisionals and late mail)

Republicans need to be made to understand pain. There is no getting out with our democracy intact without that first happening.
Jeffries threatening âmaximum warfareâ if Florida redistricts
Me always
This is amazing now that it finally loaded đ
Outstanding vote should be very good for Yes
It's all early vote, even in the places No is leading
Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.
The GOP entered this redistricting under the rather childish delusion they were going to gerrymander, and nobody would gerrymander them. In TX, MO, and a half dozen other states, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind
Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they havenât done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.
We need Democrats to pledge that they will be every bit as ruthless as Republicans fear we will be.
This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in history. If we don't hold people accountableâwith real, serious consequencesâit will only be worse next time.
People wont take us seriously until we actually knock out the bully. In 2029 Dems must throw these dogs into a cell theyâll never hope to crawl out of
From the GOP to the âfreeâ press, these people must fear us
These days anything less than a double digit win in VA is a "poor" result.
Double digit wins aren't even normal for a dem wining VA.
VA Demsâ new map would make 4 GOP seats bluer:
1âRob Wittman: Trump+5 to Harris+8.5
2âJen Kiggans: Trump+0 to Harris+5
5âJohn McGuire: Trump+12 to Harris+8.5
6âBen Cline: Trump+24 to Harris+3
Dems already could flip 1 & 2 on the current map, but their odds would greatly improve with the new map
A U.S. state map showing the national impact of mid-decade congressional redistricting on each party in the 2026 elections. Republicans gerrymandered maps to target five Democrats in Texas, two in Ohio, one in Missouri, and one in North Carolina. Democrats responded by targeting five Republicans in California and four in Virginia. A court also replaced Utah's Republican gerrymander with a fairer map that helps Democrats. States with new maps benefitting Republicans are in red and states with new maps benefitting Democrats are in blue. States that did not redistrict are in gray.
Trump sparked a mid-decade redistricting frenzy after urging Republicans to re-gerrymander congressional maps nationwideâbut they didn't expect Dems to respond.
The GOP targeted 9 Dems in 4 statesâin response, Dems targeted 9 Reps in 2 states.
A court also replaced Utah's GOP map with a fairer map
NBC News Call: The Virginia redistricting referendum PASSES. Yes wins.
Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time.
This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.
BREAKING: The Virginia GOP has escaped to Southwest VA under Generalissimo Jason Miyares following a massive defeat by Comrade Spanberger's Red Guard in Charlottesville and Southeast Virginia.
Spanberger has said that she and Jay Jones will push forward to "make all of Virginia woke."
Iran doesnât want the Strait of Hormuz closed, they want it open so they can make $500 Million Dollars a day (which is, therefore, what they are losing if it is closed!). They only say they want it closed because I have it totally BLOCKADED (CLOSED!), so they merely want to âsave face.â People approached me four days ago, saying, âSir, Iran wants to open up the Strait, immediately.â But if we do that, there can never be a Deal with Iran, unless we blow up the rest of their Country, their leaders included! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump threatens Iran with potentially "blowing up the rest of their Country, their leaders included!"
as it becomes clear that Yes has won in VA and gerrymandering will pass, a message to Republican voters:
you brought this on yourselves
you convinced the most fairness-obsessed, That Wouldnât Be Fair-minded voters in the country to affirmatively vote to put you in the dumpster
you earned this
Manassas Park City, the most Hispanic locality in Virginia is in
Yes +32, Harris +20
Trump's in a steady decline with no turnaround in sight.
Right now, Republicans are worried about being outflanked on the right, but as soon as we move past the heart of primary season in May and June, they'll start panicking about the general election and try to escape. It'll be too late.
We finally have what you've all been waiting for: the final result of Loudoun County.
(Anyone who followed the 2024 count remembers Loudoun.)
The YES won by 21%, with 144K ballots counted.
A very strong result (as we're seeing throughout NoVa): Spanberger won here by 29%, and Jones by only 19%.
by what looks to be a comfortable margin, Virginia voters have approved the L. Louis Lucas Republican Eradication Act of 2026
