3/X. As an autistic developer that enjoys quiet research and development stability the current situation is incredibly stressful.

2/X : Its also clear to me now is that more than ever, we must strive/(continue) pursuing being the "Angine de Poitrine" of vintage chip emulations to survive the plugin slop mess that is on everyone's IG feeds. Hard work, no shortcuts. But will anyone still care in a year?

State of a small software business in 2026: The emails we receive are now 99% B2B AI spam. The remaining 1% are from real humans requesting a specific feature/workflow that no one else needs and no one will ever request again.

You are not using it right! You need to have a web of idiots check the work of another web of idiots. Then it will give you junior level programming results. That will be 100$ please.

True there is obviously no "one Linux". Its anything you want it to be given time.

I wouldn't lie that it can be a challenge. I needed to switch to a bunch of apps that nearly do what I'm hoping they will.

I mean at this point I'm now a total zealot and want to convince everyone to leave that behind.

Contemplating my first month with Linux as my daily driver. For 32 years Windows felt like home to me. It started getting less so over the years, but that feeling DRASTICALLY eroded in the last year until it suddenly felt like a fucking alien cesspool. I now call Linux my home.

plogue – Linux Audio Development (LAD) LAD aims to make Linux more attractive as a platform for computer-based music production.

An interview with @plgdavid.bsky.social on our Linux journey linuxaudio.dev/linux-audio-... thanks to Amadeus Paulussen for the opportunity to put our thoughts in writing.

2/2. Each "integration" in a system requires custom hand written code, knowing the specific hardware quirks, and runs through a STM32 debug console. In short its far from a ready to go project.

Hey. I don't plan on making it a commercial thing that is certain. I could just drop the design and basic project on GH as open hardware but my issue is still support which would be a thing no matter how much I say or write. Its not a cycle accurate Z80 at all, and only works if you put the time.

Been a while since I found good CRTs on the curb. I don’t want to repost on my secondary X account that did only that. I already have too many to pick and test those two.

Yes we hang in the same discord and compare results a lot. A lot of my recordings were used in that research

Worked all week on a single download Linux package. Basically a series of .deb files with a script. Works so far on not only Debian-based distros but latest Fedora and Manjaro too

Yes but that was known for a while, this is something ‘new’

There’s been literally hundreds of NES emulators written since Nesticle came out in 97. Thousands of homebrew coders and nearly as many hardware hackers have probed those things before I did, so yes I do think documenting something new at this point feels pretty strange ha!

With regards to my findings of today, this was exactly it! The original ‘square button’ Famicom contain the old RP2A03. Got another report of an old mac emulator that implement it too. Strangely this was not known by NESDEV

Also the internal levels of the channels do not (seem) to match the later versions exactly compared to a 2A03G setup as emulated in chipsynth FC beta. Watch this thread for more.

Here is the difference between the two. First you hear the 16 different long noises of the Old vs, then the new ones. Notice the difference at the start - you kind of have the impression its stuck, this is because the two values are very similar 2046 then 2034 vs 4068 then 2034

The original chip has 10 outputs on its Noise Period table, while the latter one has 11.

The old 2A03 was used in the Donkey Kong 3 and original Punch Out Arcades, the VS series and the very first batch of Famicoms sold (the buggy ones). Lets see if any of those games used the `$F` noise...

I was recording the @artemio.bsky.social / @pineight.com MDFourier test on it and, it sounded very odd in the LONG noise section, not ONLY in the short noise (which is not present at all). Did Saleae 1.79MHz captures and yes I was not imagining things:
