And thanks to all those who asked questions!
Great to see you, Gareth!
I haven't spent much time in con bars over the last couple of years. I'll try to put that right in Glasgow next Easter!
This Holiday Monday afternoon I am mostly relaxing and watching musicals. Agency Stuff can wait until I'm back at the desk tomorrow, having written up notes from Eastercon yesterday...x
Congrats on the BSFA Award, Tade!
Are you sure (asking for a friend)?!
Ten people came up and asked me questions about publishing during Eastercon, which was great. Several also asked me to think about putting myself forward as a programme participant for @eastercon2027.org in Glasgow, having purposely not done that this year. We'll see!
So delighted for my old friend Paul Kincaid!!!
Many congratulations to @neilwilliamson.bsky.social !!!

A lovely, wide-ranging chat with @neilwilliamson.bsky.social , who I'll see again later at the NewCon Press book launch, which includes his terrific novella THE PACKET.
Just had a great meeting with agency client @drfionamoore.bsky.social What a wonderful writer, and lots to discuss...en avant!
JJ at Eastercon in 1973...
Fifty-three years ago. JJ at the 1973 Eastercon, OMPAcon, at the Grand Hotel in Bristol. My first SF convention. Good grief...
A quiet first evening at @easterconuk.bsky.social . Onwards to meetings with agency clients and publishers!
Thanks, Janny...much appreciated...x
Over 15 years as an SFF publisher, running three imprints, the most help I had was a shared secretary, none of whom read in the genre. So everything was read by me, every decision was mine. And that's also been true since I set up the literary agency in 2004...
Any editor...or agent...who does this is not someone with whom I wish to work. I've read EVERYTHING myself for 38 years, first as a publisher now as a literary agent. I receive around 40 submissions every week and read them all. If you 'don't have time' or can't be bothered, find a new job.
Having arrived in Birmingham earlier, I am now in my room for Eastercon. En avant!
I do often get questions about writing and publishing at cons, no problem...
