dArc1 (6TAP), a homolog of mammalian Arc found in fruit flies, forms icosahedral capsids made up of hexamers (yellow) and pentamers (orange).
Arc acts like a virus, forming tiny, soccer-ball-like structures that are released from neurons to communicate with their neighbors. This helps to fine-tune synaptic connections, wiring our brains for memory.
