Plot twist: the red hearts are Mars'

I noticed this in the last one, too, but the oblique projection in the lighthouse gives the squares a distorted look, like Achilles' perception of Clair has shifted.

Nice touch having the character called Clair bring light into the room.

When he tries to put a brave face on things, that's the exact same expression Clair showed him when she pulled him up onto the counter just now, and it interrupts the diamonds in his hair for a sec.

Our small businessman is so torn between what his eyes are showing him and loyalty to Clair.

When Pepper tries to start over the sheen on his hair looks like a halo a little bit. Or at least the shadow under Clair's one.

Also, he looks so cute with his ears flopping behind him when he runs <3

Third panel definitely give shades of Chloe being unimpressed with the cLair, except that they're going up into an attic instead of down to a basement.

It's always cute seeing how in tune Mars and Chloe are.

The body language says "ugh" but the tail says "you wish you were this cool."

Is he trying to make an under-the-table deal with her?

I hope Mars didn't fall through and hurt herself. Pepper's house really is shaping up to be the most dangerous place in Halo Head.

I love that Pepper's memory has the basic elements down, Peachy being there, the gist of what Chloe said, but it's very subtly different, in their looks and actions, like Pepper's memory has shifted.

(In the actual panel Peachy had already flown off and Chloe's exact words were a little different)

Look how Ares-colored that first panel is (Ok the lilac is a slightly different shade to Ares' pants, but still). I wonder if Ares represents trauma in some way? Achilles excepted, everyone who knows Ares seems hell-bent on repressing her and only see her in their dreams.

See, Mars dismisses Clair as a "please and thank you bitch" but on getting the prompt "really cool" she designed Mars a shirt that is flipping everyone off.

Funny how whenever Mars is furious Achilles always manages to say just the thing to make it 100x worse

We think of Peachykeen as a chaotic queen, and she is, but Achilles is the real force of change in Halo Head. whenever a big shift happens, he's usually involved somehow.

Mars can be standoffish all she likes, we can see her ears perk up when Achilles walks out.

I may be reading too much into it, but his glasses seem to be forming two little diamonds against all the squares over there. Maybe because this was a friendship Clair never intended to happen?

It covers up Chloe's "trauma eye" before leaving, highlighting the parallels she was making earlier.

Her stride is so similar to Chloe's but just that little bit more dainty.
