Big time. I work on a broadsheet business desk now 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sometimes I put my hands on my hips and say “fiscal drag” thoughtfully and shake my head

So far nobody’s interrogated me

Loved writing that book.

Having a brief hiatus to write about things like Thames Water’s debt (lots of it). But I’ll be back

reviewed @patrickgalbraith.bsky.social's excellent Uncommon Ground for the latest Resurgence & Ecologist. I had too much to say about this book to squeeze into 600 words, so ended up a bit incoherent. But suffice to say: highly recommended.

I’m massively into “wilding” - but I don’t thinks it’s a walk away thing

Thank you. Generally the latter - red legs are imported and released in places where farming practices and a lack of predator management means a self-sustaining population of partridges isn’t viable

I guess that in Europe you’d get tough wild red legs but the birds we get here are a reared strain

Roebuck worship and the strangeness of putting animals' heads on the wall Why trophy hunters might just be hippies in a roundabout way

I finished this book today and I strongly recommend that everyone with even a fraction of an interest in the countryside should either read it or listen to it as an audio book.
Patrick Galbraith has covered the subject of countryside access from every conceivable angle. 🧵

🏺 I always find @rsmythfreelance.bsky.social 's perspectives on things challenging and refreshing, in the best way.
There's a lot in this review for anyone interested in human relations to & engagement with land, including the archaeological (in its many senses)

Last summer I reviewed 'Wild Service', an anthology/manifesto from the Right to Roam camp (who have not, let's say, responded positively to Galbraith's book). engelsbergideas.com/reviews/walk...
