As video game hardware prices continue to jump rapidly, this market will lose presence in middle-income households, while lower income households may be removed entirely.

Video game players can be expected to shift to low barrier of entry, more accessible gaming options as they get priced out.

The average price of US video game hardware reached a record high $452 in 2025. This compares to 2024's $394 and 2019's $247.

Video game giant Rockstar has sacked more than 30 workers across the UK, including my constituents working at their Edinburgh office. I urged Ministers to support workers who have lost their jobs, and stop this from happening again.

The IWGB has just announced that 220 letters, signed by Rockstar staff, have now been delivered to leadership at the company, demanding the immediate reinstatement of their fired colleagues.
