I think getting an LLM to help you with prompts like "name all players under 25 with a cap hit of between x and y" could be useful, but this could also be done via spreadsheet.
I think Pelley's real problem is the confidence to treat LLM trades like they're the Glengarry leads and not a dumb lark.
I have friends who use LLM as a lazy way to stimulate their creativity. Prompting "give me 100 Knies trades" and reading through them would cost very little in time/money and could give you some ideas. Asking "what's the best Knies trade" and trading him for Shea Weber. You have a problem.
Honestly, I don't really care about Pelley using LLMs. Every business in the world is using them. Most NHL front offices will have an exec doing something stupid with them.
Pelley's outward persona being "i'm just a business guy" and then spitballing trade ideas is much more concerning.
I was on the Double Pivot podcast talking POTD, Canadian soccer, (sadly we recorded before Italy blew it) and I got to elaborate on my theory that most former online poker players became professional button clickers in other arenas.

Read this great @sammillerbb.bsky.social article that came from an offhand prompt I gave him months ago. Also allow me to gloat that I stumped @benlindbergh.bsky.social

Come read about me bluffing off all my chips with 8 high! This is honestly probably the best played hand I’ve submitted to @puntoftheday.com open.substack.com/pub/samgreen...
I’d also imagine PK1 gets a rough go of it because they often get DZ starts vs PP1. However, given everything about this team‘s play, I tend to think their PK was bailed out by goalies
Good podcast. I agree with most of what was said. I gotta push back on @actingthefulemin.bsky.social parroting the consensus that this Leafs PK and Laughton specifically were okay. They've had .905 4v5 SV% and as a team are bottom 5 in every stat. Laughton is a below avg Leaf in all those stats.
The last time I saw Larkin drinking champagne with a Nazi sympathizer after a big win, it was Barry and Marge Schott.
As always, I am looking for submissions. If you submit, I promise I will not compare you to Dougie Jones.
Wrote about another poker hand for @puntoftheday.com. I check caller three times with middle pair and kinda felt gross about it. open.substack.com/pub/samgreen...
We combined for so many words that I kept getting the warning from Substack that this post was too big to fit in one email. If you'd like to read something while watching the Jarrett Stidham show this afternoon, I've got something for you.
I continue to have fun analyzing hands that people who aren't myself misplay. It's free for all to read and I am taking submissions from anyone who is a proficient writer and wants to do free work for me in exchange for me telling them they made mistakes.
Ran another quiz on POTD. www.puntoftheday.com/p/week-in-re...
Mike pitched this feature to me and I think the first one came out very well. If you are interested in submitting yourself to my critical eye. Let me know. I am more interested in finding writers that can deliver clean copy than good poker players.
For the final week of the year. I am rerunning five posts for free. All content, including video analysis is unlocked and has been posted on POTD. Today's hand is one where I made a huge fold to Jesse Lonis and I was incorrect.

I prefer when my favourite artists make art instead of posting
A “feel player” made a huge fold on the biggest stage and was wrong. I wrote it. Unlocked and free for all

Have any of my followers seen the 2018 Das Boot TV show? Is Vincent Kartheiser's performance as Samuel Greenwood as iconic as his performance as Pete Campbell in Mad Men.
In a POTD first we have a quiz that some subscribers are calling "phenomenal" and "my favorite POTD post of all time"
Take the quiz yourself here

In the introduction to today’s free post. I wrote about how to play preflop with unequal stack sizes. Click to read more and take advantage of the sale, which expires at the end of the day.

Not only is @puntoftheday.com blog the best, Sam kindly takes suggestions of hands to analyze, as he did today with a hand from the APT main.
I requested it because I would feel like puking facing a jam on the river, and puking usually = indifference. Heuristic held!

The sheer number of football vs soccer jokes
Please more bits about "soccer" vs "football". There simply have not been enough.
I have watched a lot of horrible TV productions in my day and this might be the worst.
Everyone here seems to hate Nate Silver, so why don't you read about a poker hand he played poorly

FREE POST: I analyze a mistake Maria Konnikova made in the North American Poker Tour event in Las Vegas. Tomorrow, I review a mistake made by her podcast host, the most beloved man on BlueSky, Nate Silver

It's leading week at POTD. I write about how to play versus leads and when to lead yourself. The first hand is unlocked for all and we have four more leading spots coming this week. Hope you enjoy the strained "lead" "led" pun in the splash image.
