How do I like my whiskey?
With steak.

At 43N you're a long way from one of our retailers.
I like space. And whiskey. And literally keep a flask in my backback as "essential equipment" for any hike.
This is true. Keep a flask in your backpack to reward yourself with something nice. You earned it.
So, to recap: be cautious, alcohol is flamable, even at low proofs, keep it away from flames, use the original closure rather than some convenient fabric, and decant the liquor into a glass with ice, do not throw the bottle at the ice.
This has been a public service announcement. Drink responsibly.
Finally, many cocktails are enjoyed chilled on ice, or on the rocks as the terminology goes. Should you choose to serve your alcohol on ice, decant it from the bottle, do not throw the bottle at ice. Remove the closure and pour the alcohol into the glass containing ice. Do NOT throw it at the ice.
Additionally it should be stored in its bottle with its original closure, not a pourous closure (such as cloth). That would soak up the alcohol, accelerate evaporation, and become a fire hazard.
When having cocktails with your friends, remeber that alcohol, even at low proofs, is flamable and should never ever be exposed to open flame.

Hello
The discovery phase will be delightful
Today’s #WhiskeyScience post is all about the COLOR of bourbon (and other whiskeys too, I guess 😉)
Bourbon gets its color from the barrel during aging. But WHAT is it, exactly, that imparts that heavenly amber hue? 🥃
I was curious, so I went and dug for the answer.
Time for a 🧵
Did you ever wonder about the origins of the Old Humble Distilling Company? Well, I wrote the very accurate and true history of the origins of the Old Humble Distilling Company and put it in a book: a.co/d/04gxpMV
That only applies if an act of war has need passed.
It’s cool in June of 2025. But November 2024 is when it mattered. 7 million or so people stayed home and couldn’t be bothered to vote for President. Hopefully this energy carries over to November 2026.
In union there is strength.
We will be at the No Kings rally on 6/14.
I always love your thoughtful input, Mark. You’re a real one.
