baffles me how ppl can't see that this is what's driving transphobia in the uk.
i think i've mentioned in the past that i think it's bcos gen x didn't grow up with the internet whereas millennials and zoomers did. it's why i oppose banning kids from social media. i think it offers an immunity.

Indeed this is something I expect to see zero inquiry into. The degree to which Mandelson was fully integrated into the Westminster establishment, with access, contacts, the capacity to get his texts on the front pages, to influence hiring and firing and decision making.
Will Jennings r" @driennings.bsk... 9h It is rarelv commented on that the party membership that elected Jeremy Corbyn as lead also elected Keir Starmer. Stephen Bush @stephenkb.... 9h t's cause. not effect. Starmer's lack of voluble backers is not because he is unpopular. it has same root cause as his unpopularity: there is no such thing as Starmerism, the PM has no real personal achievements to speak of, so there is nothing for anyone to *defend* Chaminda Jayanetti @cjayanetti.b... the ten lolz - sorrv, pledges - plus Rebecca Long-Bailey barely able to carry the Corbynites with her
Some of the lxds having a good chuckle to themselves about that time Starmer lying was awesome & all shits & giggles. When he was doing it to screw over the left. Not now when he's doing it to important people like themselves
Conrathe was explicit about it in the keira bell case
When they find mechanisms to remove trans right they can piggy back the removal of contraceptive rights and abortion which is exactly what has happened in many parts of America. Not that people should only care about trans rights when it starts to affect them, but I WISH people would understand this
A reminder that trans people's 'demands' were 'can we have healthcare that doesn't take 20 years?' and 'can we change our documents easier!?'
That's it.
And we didn't even ask very loudly.
In response, the UK has decided to take all our rights away.
Today’s The Times Scotland front page with the top story “Cherry: SNP made me ashamed so I quit party”
Hey the Times, I quit a political party over trans issues and have a book to promote, can I have a front page spread?
Oh, that’s only reserved for transphobes and not trans people? Never mind.
Incredible so now its no uh we definitely didn’t do anything wrong its just *secret* if someone passes vetting or not
Shuker said this best, but is by no means alone: okay, I may have fucked my career and absolutely clowned myself in public, but at least I helped to inflict a disastrous Tory government upon the public and that made the dirty hippies that I despise cry. I can always look back upon that with pride.
The lightning speed neutralisation of Scottish politics after Scotland had dared to pass the Gender Recognition Reform Bill was pretty terrifying.

It's notable she calls this manifesto too much, it's only promise is respect.
No fixing of waiting lists, no protection from exclusion.
The SNP wrote a spineless manifesto that fixes nothing. respect was too much for her.
Gender Criticals won't be happy til every party is promising to flog us
That Ch🍒rry was allowed to stay, and able to leave when it suited her, is the single biggest failing of the SNP in the last decade. They allowed her to fester and foment the bigotry that contaminates politics today.

A great thread, and a chance to finally say "bye bitch" to Cherry and move on
everyone: I am incensed! I can scarcely believe it! how completely uncharacteristic of our nations finest institution! how could the BBC use my license fee to do such terrible reporting harming queer people and immigrants!???
queer people and immigrants: yeah that's the BBC alright.
Expecting to be thrown under the bus as she felt her colleague Michelle Thomson had been a few years previously, she says she warned Sturgeon that “if she took me down, I would take her down with me”. Cherry, “scared and trembling with rage”, told Sturgeon she had a “friendly journalist teed up and ready to go” to expose the fact that her own complaints against senior figures in the party had been ignored by party headquarters. The revelations, she claimed, would expose the first minister as a hypocrite.
anyway this is a pretty interesting little nugget, is it not? transphobic politicians conspiring with friendly journalists to attack political opponents? you'd have been called a conspiracy theorist if you suggested this was obviously going on
The fun part is: this was loudly denounced as an insane conspiracy theory, right up until those books came out that were filled with McSweeney and Reed bragging about how all of it was true, and they really had suckered the press into repeating all of this awesomely dishonest horseshit.
If I run a daycare centre and I announce the hiring of a new staff member before police checks are finished and that person harms a child I am 100% responsible, regardless of what I knew.
End of story.
Fuck these violent ghouls
The Guardian has been lying to its readers for years; why stop now?
Victoria is one of the best of her cohort IMO and here she is, reduced to stammering like a red-handed crook in front of a fascist crackpot, entirely because the system she speaks for is so brazenly bent and disgusting.
“Fed up” is how you respond to the neighbour that keeps putting stuff in your wheelie bin.
HONOURED to say my work campaigning for NHS reform has gotten me nominated for Amnesty’s People’s Human Rights Champion 🏳️⚧️
I’m genuinely just honoured to be featured alongside these names but if you’d like to vote for me you can here

Jesse Singal: spends an entire decade trying to uncover a massive wave of desisters & detransitioners that never materialized
also Jesse Singal: "trans people are the real conspiracy theorists!"
Great time to point out there are several popular accounts on here who still claim Singal isn't an anti-trans zealot and that associating with him is fine
A screenshot of a Truthout article by Zane McNeill, dated November 5, 2024. The headline reads, "Republicans Spent Nearly $215M on TV Ads Attacking Trans Rights This Election." Below it is a pull quote: "‘That's $134 per trans person in anti-trans ad spending,’ civil rights attorney Alejandra Caraballo said."
The Trump campaign spent $222 million on anti-trans ads. ADF's budget exceeds $100M. Chris Rufo has openly admitted to manufacturing moral panic as a political strategy. These aren't "conspiracy theories." These are documented facts. Singal dismisses them without ever actually addressing them.
The evangelicals *literally* held a conference conspiring to do this.
The current attacks on trans rights are 100% a documented, co-ordinated right wing plan.
www.splcenter.org/resources/ha...
In the 1980s, the UK media responded to an increase in visibility/support of gay people with a relentless, well-funded, Right-Wing campaign against gay rights, and when support went down, allowing Thatcher to bring in Section 28, the media turned around and blamed gay people for demanding too much.
cis women transphobes are as embarassing as they are revolting because they will declare with their whole chest “I am less capable than a man and I demand you treat me accordingly by lowering your expectations!”
girl shut the fuck up there’s no gender advantage in CHESS
remember when rags like the guardian claimed they had 'nothing against transgender women' they just had 'concerns about self-id being abused by cisgender men'?
it was only like 3 years ago and now look at the mess they've created.
Many of us warned that Starmer's Labour would be a regressive, authoritarian nightmare and they've done nothing to disprove that
