Sudan’s war has become the 21st century’s worst humanitarian crisis. 😢
dance through it like it's not happening at all, somehow you get to the otherside and it's more fun

“we found that 78% of authors (of studies on ABA) had a conflict of interest (COI)
Some worked in ABA clinics, some offered paid consulting to other ABA providers, and some did both
Almost all papers (93%) had at least one author with these kinds of connections.”

If you’ve ever felt unseen by systems, misunderstood by language, or caught between identities - this episode is for you.

Amoco, now part of BP, never cleaned up after its failed oil prospecting mission. Rural Kenyans are suing for a right to a clean environment.
Posting this thing i wrote again since a lot of people are calling trump mad or insane right now and that's still obscuring far more than it reveals.

Thank you so much to those of you who came along to Tuesday night's panel discussion on Transcription for Racial Justice, and even bigger thanks to our three fantastic panellists, @elisney.bsky.social, @divyampersaud.com and @wardasworld.bsky.social
>
Knowledge isn’t neutral. Who gets heard, recognised, and recorded shapes inequality and injustice.
Next week, at the AAT online panel, we’re exploring transcription, captioning & racial justice and their roots in colonial research.

Many of us are torn about going to the US for #AAAL2026. Here's a list 7 things we can do in Chicago to support affected communities, including a list of neighbourhoods that would appreciate those per diem $$$: littlevillagechamber.org/chicagos-imm...
Hey everyone, a collective I'm part of is starting a radical bookshop and community space in Newcastle, a city where the last radical bookshop closed around 40 years ago. We've just launched our crowdfunder. Please take a look a share widely!

I'm doing some prep for next week's Transcription for Racial Justice panel event (see link in next post) and the various bits of writing I want to produce to promote it and it's given me cause to revisit @saranahmed.bsky.social's fabulous blog. This post on the institutional as usual is just great:
Come join me and @divyampersaud.com, @elisney.bsky.social and @wardasworld.bsky.social next Tuesday 24 March @ 7pm GMT on Zoom to explore how transcription resists or reinforces racial injustice.
Tickets cost £7.50 (but half price tix available on request)!

"AI is not a magical tool built by people in San Francisco making millions of dollars a year and pushing their companies to insane valuations. Artificial intelligence is an extractive technology that relies on the brutal labor of underpaid workers around the world"

Autism is a clinical disability and the neurodiversity movement argues it is *both* a difference *and* a disability. This is part of my life’s work to document & explain, but many mischaracterize our studies (including “Deficit, difference, or both?”) and positions.

No workplace technology developed or utilised within capitalism has given us more free time outside of work, even if it allows genuine increases in productivity. Only organsied labour has achieved that. There is no reason, none whatsoever, to think AI will be any different.
Reading an advance copy of White System, Black Therapist by @wardasworld.bsky.social. Cannot recommend it highly enough: for understanding speech therapy, education, colonial institutions, and more. Its so well written and filled with great personal insight theoretical nuance. Preorder and read!
On Tuesday 17th March from 4.00 to 5.15pm, I'll be having a virtual book launch
We are keeping the event small so that it can feel more intimate and conversational, which means there will be a limited number of tickets available.

In anticipation of the Super Bowl this weekend I thought I would reshare my post from when Bad Bunny was first announced as headlining the half time show to remind us that the joy many of us will feel is a reminder of the world we are fighting for.

James Reed of recruiter Reed, which was founded by his father, has warned graduates that they should "think about a job that involves working with your hands" as AI takes on white-collar work.
Or consider being born to parents who can give you a role in the family firm?

Probably the most important thing about the increasingly reliance on AI owned by fascist billionaires, is that this reliance will help those owners by causing mass unemployment, in turn leading to further support for the fascist politics and parties that those same billionaires fund and support.
