My Saturday morning thought... If the 75,017,626 people who voted for Kamala would just show up together on one day, this shit would be over.

AOC: “The mistake that I made, you know, from all the movies that we see growing up about heroes & villains — is that I thought that fascist takeover attempts were going to be architected by evil geniuses — I was not expecting how unearned, nepotistic, mediocre, & just dumb the architects would be”

Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal.

Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big.

And here we are.

"All we say to America is, 'Be true to what you said on paper.'"

These words — spoken by MLK Jr. shortly before he was killed on this day in 1968 — ring just as true now.

Let's honor his legacy by continuing the fight for social and economic justice.

Let’s be clear. Trump says WE CANT INVEST IN AMERICA cause we are fighjting wars. ONE PROBLEM with that . Six weeks ago we were NOT fighting wars and YOU STILL DIDNT WANT TO INVEST IN AMERICA. SO your logic is WRONG. AGAIN

You live somewhere. You care not only about there, but about elsewhere. You care about your home, neighborhood, state, country, region, continent, and world. A violation anywhere pains you. To help overcome violations everywhere attracts you. That is internationalism. It’s exemplary

It puts the US in the position of Japan - the aggressor - taking a wontonly destructive action killing school children as well as foreign leaders with no notice and while negotiations were underway, starting a major war.

Are we great yet?

No Kings As the president escalates his authoritarian power grab, the NO KINGS non-violent movement continues to rise stronger. We are united once again to remind the world: America has No Kings and the power ...

But we know a president is not a king unless we bow. A dictator is not a dictator unless we bow. Our knees, your knees are not made for bowing to power drunk neo-fascists. We stand and speak truth to power...-Rev. William Barber

Will the Fairness Act apply to Fox News and other MAGA media too? 🤔

Perhaps the distinction is that not everyone who knew JE is a pedophile, but if they continued to associate with him after 2008 they do have bad judgment, questionable morals, and priorities (business, political, social) that do not align with the public interest. They are ineligible for leadership.

Ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura: “We’re a 3rd world country now. I know. I’ve been to ‘em. I spent 17 months in SE Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf… that’s what happens in a dictatorship. In comes the military. That’s what’s happening here.” 🇺🇸

The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.

FYI:

In 1916 the U.S. signed an agreement for control of St. Thomas, St. John & St. Croix, known as the “Danish West Indies,” in exchange for $25 million & a declaration that the U.S. would “not object to the Danish Govt extending their political & economic interests to the whole of Greenland.

If the US holds Venezuela, we will seize 17% of oil -- yesterday's technology. If China uses this precedent to take Taiwan, it will own 60% of semiconductors -- tomorrow's technology. See what happens when you elect evil & stupid at the same time?

We must hold ourselves to the fundamental truth that sovereign nations are sovereign. We must respect and maintain rules-based order. Anything else will lead to chaos and another world war. Congress must act and act swiftly.

"It was the best attack on sovereignty..." is the punchline that will be used at Trump's trial at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I hear:
Maduro deserved it.

I answer:
That’s not how the law works.
That’s how mobs work.

I hear:
You’re defending Maduro.

I answer:
No.
I’m defending the rule of law.
Those are not the same thing.

Whether Maduro is good or evil is irrelevant.

I read my first Stephen King one night during college. I say "one night" because I couldn't put it down. It's 3 AM, silent apartment, I'm locked in agonized suspense when suddenly a gate clanged and I nearly expired. It was Christine 🚘
