Yeah I think that worked pretty well

Swampies from Doctor Who (The Power of Kroll, 1978-79)
Ah nice! Yeah, I can imagine his sets having a nice vibe.
Yeah, it's a well put together film.
Yeah, I thought the first part was the strongest act.

I did get it, and last time I checked I was still capable of feeling emotions. I just thought it was a nice film, but not a great one.
The narration was one of the elements that was borderline annoying for me. A bit cheesy, but I can live with it.
Act 3 (the first part) was my favourite section. I can see why people might struggle with the dancing and the schmaltzy stuff.
I can definitely see why people wouldn't like it. For me, it toed the line between entertaining and almost annoying, but just managed to stay on the good side.
Haha, yeah, that's fair. I thought Act 3 (the first bit) was the strongest part. After that I thought it got a bit uneven, stuck between a kind of Spielberg-esque teen drama and something trying to be more philosophical. I still enjoyed it though. Good but not great.
The Life of Chuck, based on the Stephen King novella (which I've never read)
Just watched The Life of Chuck, a movie that teeters on the edge of cloying sentimentality but manages to keep its balance. There's a good mix of melancholy alongside the feel-good moments, and while it's maybe not as profound as it strives to be, it's a solid fantasy #drama.

I really don't like dressing up for Halloween and stuff, but if someone made me a screen-accurate replica of Dynamo's gear in The Running Man, I'd probably wear that every damn day ๐

Kind of an odd thing to criticize in horror movies. The investigating is often when the protagonist realizes they're not imagining things, which is when fear kicks in. And yeah, any library scene is good with me. Especially with unreasonably tall shelves (even better with the rolling ladder thing).
Happy birthday Sean Bean!๐From GoldenEye to Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones, he's played some great characters. But for me he'll always be, first and foremost, Richard Sharpe from the brilliant #BritishTV series Sharpe. Bloody loved watching that when I was a kid.

Beautiful ๐
I Spit on Your Grave (2010) movie poster
Just watched I Spit on Your Grave (2010), a fairly pointless remake of the 1978 original. Half the film is spent following the bad guys, with the main character not on screen for what feels like ages. Has some grimly entertaining grindhouse revenge kills, but not much else.

Yes, it is. Barbora Skrlovรก. Crazy story.
Orphan: First Kill (2022)
I watched Orphan: First Kill (2022) last night, and while neither Orphan movie is great #horror, they are quite fun. Partly cos of the ludicrous plot + the brilliantly stupid way that orphan Esther is sometimes obviously played by an adult and other times by a little kid ๐๐ช

Bit harsh ๐
Ah good! I thought it was largely balls, but I'm glad you liked it. It was definitely Die Hard-inspired.
Cleaner (2025)
I just watched Cleaner (2025), a British action movie directed by Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Green Lantern) and starring Daisy Ridley. I wanted it to be decent just for Daisy's sake, but the best thing about it was the mercifully brief 97 minute run time.

Who remembers Knightmare, the British children's adventure game show back in the late-80s early-90s? I used to love that show, was genuinely quite scary at times, especially the damn goblin horn. "And just keep telling yourself, it's only a game... Isn't it?"

I've no idea, but as soon as I read "I projectile vomited on her" I had doubts about the veracity of Rose's statement. That just doesn't sound right.
Haha, brilliant ๐
