I am in the greens, we did have an influx of swerfs sometime earlier in this decade and thankfully we were able to get rid of them, they wrecked the English greens for a while.

There’s a lot of transphobia in journalism/arts/the media unfortunately.

Fintan O’Toole - is that because of his support of Roisin Ingle when she shared a post by Suzanne Moore? I agree it would have been simpler to undo the retweet and say sorry.

A teenage/20something girl in vaguely 80s clothing smoking a cigarette. She has knee high boots and fishnet tights. She has plaits and earrings. She's saying, "Aslan...? Haven't heard THAT name in a while" and is labelled SUSAN PEVENSIE: Narnia's Final Girl

Found this doodle, no memory of what prompted it. Possibly an internet chat.

Much as people might dislike seeing aid requests from people in Gaza, it’s a fraction of the dislike people in Gaza feel posting them. To go from a modestly prosperous life to displacement and living hand to mouth through no fault of your own is an awful experience. Please chip in if you can ⬇️

Love Books Tours Presents The Planter’s Daughter by Susan Lanigan Read Along. Here’s my Review. I’m participating in Love Books Tours Presents The Planter’s Daughter by Susan Lanigan Read Along. The future is under threat. But the past won’t lie down. Sadhbh Drummond was landed gentry, a pass…

I missed this post from Mx Phoebe's Viewpoint earlier when the blog tour for The Planter's Daughter was running in February. It's a very thoughtful piece and I'm grateful to Mx Phoebe for engaging on a deep level. Interesting about the breast cancer detail being cruel and brutal. (1/2)

Help me build a life for my baby girls. Hi I am Wafa, from Gaza. My children Sham and Aylool are my whole life, I love them more than anything and I am terrified that I won't be able to keep them safe.

Hello! My friend Wafaa's husband Hassan has been injured and is in a great deal of pain. He needs funds for painkillers, a walking stick, and proper treatment for an infected wound. If you can, please donate to the fundraiser. Wafaa is my friend and I can vouch for her.

Yeah, I know vegetarian diet would also help but I find it harder to do without meat than aeroplanes. Good luck with your flight-free streak! Of course if this goes in much longer (trump in Iran) we will all be flight free by default 😂

This is my last environment column for The Irish Times and I’ve radicalised myself None of my own small changes is going to save the planet, but everyday choices and habits of individuals do matter

Yes this is all fine and well but what about flying? Mind you I broke my 11-year flight free streak this year when I flew to Heathrow for a work thing, so not perfect myself, but a column about climate action not mentioning cutting down on flying is like putting a plaster on a cancerous lump.

That particular scene I wrote very soon post-surgery and the rest was written during active treatment in 2023. I remember the vindictive satisfaction I felt when I wrote that Maisie threw a spanner in the works by surviving.

I think survival is a bit brutal. But I take the criticism :)
