I'm back from the The Frozen South. Gettin settled in. looking for some short term technical work. Plan on heading back in August
Thanks. Internet may be a bit intermittent here, but the fact that we have it at all is mind blowing. The fact that it was better the last two years than this year speaks to the state of all things tech.
Yuppers!
No Travel Allowed
Condition ONE!!!
Eventually, we had to evacuate the building as a group for safety
They called Weather Condition 1 intermittently throughout the day. This is the view from my garage! There's usually a 230m mountain visible from this vantage
Hurricane Blizzard!
Condition 2 herbi. My first of the season
BASE!
Great read. Very accurate depiction of life here. Too accurate. The PTB's have actually banned it on base. They don't want us thinking these thoughts lol
Ok to tag. Going dark π₯Άπ§

The radio show is high-key one of the things I'm most excited for!
I'm not acquainted with anyone on the iceberg research teams, but here's a starter pack of Arctic and Antarctic communicators. There may be someone on this list who can help!

I'm sorry. I don't know how to tell you this, but even in the remotest part of the world, outside of every country, I'm still subject to US jurisdiction, laws, and taxes.
...and all that implies...
It's official! I'm headed back to the ice! I will return to McMurdo Antarctica for my third season as the station machinist in a little over 3 weeks! Stay tuned for updates and pics!
I frequently say that Antarctica has only two seasons: summer and winter. There is no spring or fall. Upon further reflection, this is true at the very Pole, but the northern coasts do experience a period where the sun rises and sets. These could be thought of as Antarctic "spring" and "fall"
...and on August 19, at 1210M, the sun rose again. The sun will now rise and set approximately every day until late October
I wasn't up to date on the Erebus and Terror (remiss). I love that we are getting the chance to see these ships after a century under water. I'm super impressed with the tech used in these discoveries. My undergrad was in the development of this kind of tech so a bit envious I'm not part of it rn
Getting closer to #sunrise at the #southpole, with official sunrise still nearly three weeks away. Winterover Sim capturing a picture of the horizon behind the ceremonial South Pole with his rubber duck on top. #Antarctica
We're just out there finding Heroic-Era ships now huh
