Thought some summer flowers ( and a pretty quilt) would be the ticket for today's wintery and windy day. This is Fractured Circles using the Build As You Go machine quilting method.

Fractured Waterfall~ using KFC and batiks. This is a workshop that I offer to quilt guilds and other groups. For all skill levels, this method involves "deconstructing" your quilt and then re-assembling using the Build As You Go quilting method.

This was my first attempt at drawing on fabric. It was rather primitive, but she loved it anyway. Don't be afraid to experiment with different mediums. Even crayons are fun to play with on fabric!

Watercolor pencil painting on unbleached canvas, then embellished with threads. Taken from a photo of the Indiana Dunes where I grew up. I made this for my mother in 2017 when she was in memory care. She loved it and it brought back so many memories for her.

Lately I have been taking scraps, trims and what-not. Practicing improv hand-stitching in the early morning hours before Opal wakes up for her morning walk. This is Improv #1

Pfaff maintenance~oiling the hook
Pfaff maintenance~oiling the hook YouTube video by Discoversewing

For all you Pfaff Owners, here is a video which discusses how to oil your hook. I recommend that you put one drop of sewing machine oil in your hook each time you sit down to use your sewing machine.
If you own another brand and have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! youtu.be/bXsvXVIN5u0?...

I am presently focusing on establishing my Blue Sky Social presence as I work toward exiting the Meta/Facebook universe (for obvious reasons). You will see videos, creative sewing and quilting ideas and probably a lot of doggie shares since my pup is my universe! Thanks in advance for looking!

My name is Amy Smith, from Brubakers Sewing in Pennsylvania. We sell and service German (Retro) Pfaff sewing machines. I have over 30 years experience on most brands of sewing machines, so if you have a sewing or application question, I am here to help.
