A baseball game tonight to keep my brain from continually seeing what is going on in our world. Yes, a slow game, but that's what I need. Buxton hit two homers so far! I might be working on upcoming genealogy PowerPoints at the same time.
Artemis II. Amazing. I admit to holding my breath a bit when they were not in communication with Houston. As expected due to being on the other side of the moon. I just reread that sentence and shook my head at what I had written.
Looking forward to spring. I need the sun and to see the trees budding out. More daylight, too!

Was planning on watching RootsTech & Paralympics. Change isn’t easy, but am doing that instead. Good change. Moving. Same email & phone number. Now back to weeding out many books, sorting paper, filling my recycling bin, &donating clothing I no longer need. Family and friends help is a blessing.
Extra proud of the Minnesota connected athletes excelling in Italy. That doesn't take away from all the excelling fellow Minnesotans standing up and caring for other people, the truth, and the law.
The Obamas and Bidens are the presidential couples we can tell our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to be like in public service to our country and as to how they treat everyone equally.
No riots in my part of Minnesota, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis & Saint Paul. My estimate is 99% well-behaved, strong minded, loud voices, meaningful signs, & a wide variety of like-minded people who care enough to be out in the continuing cold & snow. Definitely not paid to do that.
Genealogy research has a calming effect. Away from news but learning who & what came before you. It brings great friends with similar interests. A special woman from the Netherlands sent me a package of Stroopwafels as a hug for this Minnesotan. @yhoitink.bsky.social I had a huge smile on my face!
Join us Thursdays in March & April for in-depth sessions to increase knowledge & experience with libraries, historical societies, archives, genealogical societies, & receive an extensive syllabus with info on them and much more. Hidden resources in most! ighr.gagensociety.org/repositories/
Laundry? Clean bathroom? How to help reduce my anxiety of this week here in Minnesota? Work on a handout for an upcoming genealogy presentation and then some searching in Canadian records for those distant cousins. Ahhhhh.
Heartbreaking to read online posts from neighbors in Saint Paul and some surrounding areas. People in their own homes are frantic and scared about today's activities and rumors.
I think Bishop Henry Whipple is looking down upon the building named for him and isn't happy to see what I C E is doing.
Genealogy research & seeking out repositories that have old records is one way to keep me active. Full of cool things from the past. I am only 1 of the several instructors. The syllabus is extensive. Don't miss this 1 day a week course. Register ighr.gagensociety.org/repositories/
Thankful for those US & around the world peacefully protesting the horrors of thugs killing fellow human beings. Mothers, fathers, siblings, losing family. Talked with a Latino man & told him to please stay safe. Tears in his eyes as we kindly spoke. Is this really happening in my Minnesota.
This horrible day is over in just over 30 minutes here in Minnesota, but it will never be over. Lasting agony, a child without a mother, a state, city, and neighborhood scarred and scared, and the list could go on. Will Congress stand up to anything to help our country?
Any hope that Congress will finally act? Not holding my breath. They represent us, not orange guy and his handlers.
Grateful for medical scientists who research, test, & recommend vaccines to keep us healthier & avoid horrific diseases and viruses. Current on mine and thankful to survive many decades. I thank Mom who made sure I received my childhood vaccines & I did the same for my 3 children now adults.
Genealogists sometimes get stuck on what to do next. Newcomers need easy steps to start tracing their family. A consultation with a professional genealogist will help. Special rates til 31 Dec but the consultation doesn't have to be until the new year of 2026! genealogybypaula.com/2025/12/sche...
News more awful hour after hour & need a change of thought. Was going to do a couple errands but too cold to go. 2 Sunday ICE raids where I would have been. STOP them. Now working on my own genealogy for a relief from all this. I can do that; many can't because of guns used to kill & ICE garbage. 😓
Watching an old episode of Designing Women. Wow, it was about the Anita Hill testimony and the Clarence Thomas process of being appointed to the Supreme Court. Really hit a lot of lows for me. Look at where we are now with him and some others. I believed Anita then and still do.
Tomorrow Sat Nov 22 at noon ET regis start for IGHR 2026 genealogy courses. More details & links. genealogybypaula.com & ighr.gagensociety.org
I need almost 8 weeks off from the majority of my work and with pay, just like the House of Representatives.
Genealogical research for an upcoming presentation again yields a surprising find & deep dive into a rabbit hole. This keeps me mostly sane! Hear more Germanic Gen Soc Nov 13 Stillwater, MN ggsmn.org/eventListing...
Really? Supreme Court doesn't help babies, toddlers, children, teens, adults on SNAP. How about temporarily allowing payments & not temporarily being on the side of the administration until an appeals court reviews, Stay temporarily hungry until someone in the federal government cares. Sad.
Feeling more like there is HOPE ON THE HORIZON.
Checked what Nov 4 election day means for your home city, county, and state? Mayors, city councils, some Congressional races, and lots of school boards and school funding issues up for vote. Please vote and don’t forget the schools educating next generations. Teachers need that help, too.
