That does seem interesting! I actually like that gouache reactivates and use that to soften edges, and I find it generally difficult to work with acrylics, though it is versatile. But maybe acrylic gouache would be something in between? I'll have to try it sometime.

I would either try to correct with more opaque paint, or apply a fixative and then continue painting on top. Turns out that's not necessary, at least in many cases.
I found out that you can glaze over gouache with transparent layers and that changes everything! Here I was laboriously applying opaque color when I wanted to correct a hue... I thought applying a thin layer would just reactivate the paint and make a mess, but it can be done if you're careful.

Thank you so much! I painted the stars with white. Adding brighter details with opaque gouache is one of my favorite things :)
Gouache painting of a woman in profile, with long wavy hair and a crown of stars, in tones of pale blue against a dark blue background.

I'm currently without a computer, so I don't have access to all my files and usual tools. But I have a tablet now and I'm practicing drawing with a different software! I made this as a study, and since I still need to work, I'm offering commissions in this style for now. ko-fi.com/c/2f10b8e8d9
Creative people tend to be more empathetic because empathy takes creative ability. To be able to conceive a living a different reality, with different conditions, to imagine being a different person and how it'd feel, and understand that their experience is just as real as your own.
I know, I love it too!!
How is everyone not marveling at all the flowers all the time
Oh and its name in Portuguese is urutau or mãe-da-lua, meaning "mother-of-the-moon".
Some more context for non-portuguese speakers, the bird was rescued by firefighters, and the woman keeps marveling at how beautiful it is! She calls it "splendorous", also keeps calling it "my love" lol. Caption says this is known as a "ghost bird".
They still are
I go through times in which I feel in a state of suspension, present yet absent of myself, due to there being so many things happening inside of me at once, it all becomes indistinct & akin to emptiness. I feel empty because I'm too full. My mind becomes like the primordial cauldron of formlessness
This reminded me of this excerpt of a poem by Alberto Caeiro...
"But if God is the trees and the flowers
And the hills and the moonlight and the sun,
Why do I call it God?
I call it flowers and trees and hills and sun and moonlight"...
Oh yeah, mine is not an iPad so I can't use Procreate, but I think CSP is doing the job! I'm also struggling a bit cause I keep trying to find all the same functionalities I was used to in Photoshop, to try to keep as much of my usual workflow as possible... I can only take so much change, lol!
Thank you! She was loosely based on a drawing by Mucha.
It is!! I'm usually resistant to new things after I get used to something, have been using a graphics tablet all my life, but now that I'm finally trying a screen one, I'm sold... I'm using Clip Studio Paint, still on trial. I like it but haven't tried others, which one do you use?
Also it's the first time ever I am drawing directly on a screen and it's such a game changer. It feels much more intuitive, and with a similar closeness or intimacy with the work as I'd feel when working traditionally. I`m really enjoying it.

I'm glad you like them, happy to share!
Right?! I still find these works so impressive and unusual.
Some images I only have in low resolution and can't find better. I love the one with the kitten warriors.
I was going through my archives and decided to share these. I've known Ian Daniels' work since I was a teenager, and it inspired me so much, but he seems fairly unknown. He has a very unique style, especially in some of his works, which feel like a particularly surreal kind of fantasy.
This is lovely and dreamy! Gouache has such a nice velvety texture, and I like how you used it more watery for the foggy watercolor-like transitions
Thank you! 🌟 I still want to create a couple more for the series.
I wish we could choose how thumbnails will crop
