Tom Lehrer wasn't just a satirist or a musician.
He as a comedian who could quietly tell a joke and wait more than SIXTY YEARS for the payoff.
That's dedication to craft.
We lost an icon.

Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying “I don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.
Maybe corny but it was helpful for me to hear Henry Rollins saying "this is not time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer trained you for... You can be thunderous in your own life, to the eight people around you. That rubs off... Goodness is viral"
They can’t fathom that you can have a view but it not be your identity. Their true issue is that they don’t know how to be happy, so no one should be.
Jealously imagining the satisfaction of heckling Eric Adams to his face and being quoted in the press for my sick burn.
Everyone take to the steeets tonight and put the outdoor dining structures back up.
No one told me about the new Magic Schoolbus live action reboot…
tired of abusive extractive data practices from platforms. linkedin has just sneakily opted everyone into being training data for their models

I went to the library to ask if they had this book about Pavlov's Dog and Schrödinger's Cat. The librarian said it rang a bell but she wasn't sure whether they had it or not.
There is a non-zero chance that the former president who is running to be elected thinks migrant asylum seekers are actually migrants from from "insane asylums" and the press continues to treat him seriously.
lol damn “If Joe Biden can step aside, then the rest of us can step up” is a good line

After five years of pioneering research into the abuse of social platforms, the Stanford Internet Observatory is winding down. Its founding director, Alex Stamos, left his position in November. Renee DiResta, its research director, left last week after her contract was not renewed. One other staff member's contract expired this month, while others have been told to look for jobs elsewhere, sources say. Some members of the eight-person team might find other jobs at Stanford, and it’s possible that the university will retain the Stanford Internet Observatory branding, according to sources familiar with the matter. But the lab will not conduct research into the 2024 election or other elections in the future.
NEWS: After sustained attacks from House Republicans, the Stanford Internet Observatory is being dismantled. A huge blow to academic freedom and our ability to understand platforms and influence operations www.platformer.news/stanford-int...
Keep calling your state reps and the Senate and Assembly leaders.
If this passes any hope of congestion pricing happening dies.

"On top of the financial crisis she is creating, this is simply a terrible policy decision, full stop. Not only have we failed to enact major climate legislation so far this session, but to walk back previously-passed policies to reduce emissions - exactly one year after our skies turned apocalyptic yellow from wildfire smoke - is a complete dereliction of our responsibility and a slap in the face to the next generation. It is also contrary to our Climate Law, which requires every government decision to be measured against our emission-reduction targets, and against New Yorkers’ constitutional right to clean air and a healthful environment, which voters just approved by an overwhelming majority in the last election. "Congestion pricing will provide a significant benefit to New York City residents and commuters, the overwhelming majority of whom use mass transit and walk to get where they need to go, and all of whom breathe the city’s air.
