Clearly the thing to do is hit refresh like a lunatic all night rather than spend a reimbursable $3.99 to rent the thing I need to watch, right?

Aha!

I appreciate the check.

This does kinda screw up a work thing I need to do right now, but my fault for waiting until the last minute.

A picture of me standing next to a tube poster of Lee Cronin’s LEE CRONIN’S THE MUMMY where I am doing a similar facial expression to the aforementioned mummy: mouth ajar, left eye half-closed, other eye looking up.

Phish Sphere prediction: ‘Say It To Me S.A.N.T.O.S’ will be final encore of final night and will include Artemis II footage and that place will go so fucking insane no one in attendance will ever be the same.

I have really missed this show and I’m so glad it’s back! It’s great to hear @mattsinger.bsky.social again, and he and @jhoffman.bsky.social are fun together. I’m only halfway through this first episode and am amazed by the fun facts about going number 2 in space! 🚀🚽

Apple TV’s Outcome: Testing the Limits of Keanu’s Likability

Today is the debut of the relaunched Filmspotting: SVU podcast. I cohost with Matt Singer and we talk about direct-to-streaming movies (and other matters.)

Go direct to the 41:10 mark to hear me explain how the Artemis and Apollo astronauts take a dump in space.

The controversy surrounding the band Geese's aggressive marketing is only a "thing" because Geese is basically a good band. You only expect that stuff with absolute junk.

I was at a friend's house yesterday and there was a box of Apple Jacks on the counter (they have an 8-yr-old) and I have been thinking about Apple Jacks ever since.

The chance of me tearing into a box of those shits in the next 48 hrs is close to 100%.

It's been five years since the outstanding JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH came out, which won 2 Oscars and was nominated for 4 more inc. best picture, yet its director/cowriter Shaka King, a genial guy in interviews, has not had anything else released, not even a TV episode. Something is up with this!

Sat AM brag: I have a piece in the new print issue of Filmmaker magazine which is cool but Amy Taubin also has a (much larger) piece and to be associated with her thusly is an ego boost that will sustain me for at least 12 months.

After 8 years, Filmspotting SVU, the podcast about streaming movies, is back.

Alison Willmore’s already doing Critical Darlings (which is great!) so I needed a new co-host.

My wife told me the only person who could replace Alison was @jhoffman.bsky.social, so that’s who I got to do it.

Tuesday!

I don't know if these are actually stars getting somehow reflected into the camera or overlaid into the feed or something, but my god what an image

Listen to the live Jefferson Airplane album 'Bless Its Pointed Little Head', recorded in 1968, to hear Jack Casady's thundering, furious, unpredictable bass playing and realize he's up there with Entwistle and Squire in terms of transforming what this instrument could do in a rock context.
