Unlikely - he’s a Scouser. Also not related to the unloved Chairman from ‘91-01, Dan McCauley. I remember standing in the Devonport end whilst everyone chanted McCauley is a w**ker. Not ideal.

The following year he signed to Ipswich for £220,000 - a princely sum back then - a canny move by Bobby Robson though.

I meant to buy this in 1987, but funds were not available. Good to put that right 39 years later. It’s been a while since I bought an @alternativetent.bsky.social album, for shame. One for @matthsheff.bsky.social.

Lankum - Ghost Town (Official Video)
Lankum - Ghost Town (Official Video) YouTube video by LankumDublin

Second post of extraordinary music today; Lankum’s reworking of Ghost Town is a rare treat. It starts as you’d expect, then mutates into something akin to Koyaanisqatsi era Philip Glass, then turns into a disco banger. Essential. youtu.be/aLLnF4vxaeY?...

Perhaps not Dave. He lived in Sheffield and his partner worked costumes at Sheffield Theatres. I think he used to arbitrate disputes between neighbours. Fairly certain he was mates with Steve.

Yes to the Shellac gig - I recall Wibble being quite cross about the encore. I believe Fluffy Steve and his mate, who I want to call Dave ‘the Leg’ were also in attendance. Have I made this up?

No luck finding the Ten Benson gig - but a search did reveal two ‘lost’ Leadmill gigs - Shellac c. ‘98 and Urusei Yatsura plus Prolapse around the same date. Huzzah!

My guess would be a bass guitar and some kind of wahwah pedal. I saw them live just once at the Leadmill supporting someone, no idea who though. 🙁

If ever the light rail service to Stockbridge comes to pass, this may see a new lease of life - though I’m not holding my breath!

It absolutely is - there’s also another stairway entrance from the Wicker - the archway on the right here.

Couscous proper is about 2 mm in diameter, but there also exists a larger variety (3 mm more) known as berkoukes, as well as an ultra-fine version (around 1 mm).

As I'm nice and there's some new stuff on the horizon, I've reduced the full discography on Bandcamp down 80% to just £20 for the next few days. So get 20 years(!) worth of stuff for £20. Bargain! worriedaboutsatan.bandcamp.com

Ten Benson - The Claw
Ten Benson - The Claw YouTube video by bonbonfabrik

General-purpose can openers first appeared in the 1850s and had a primitive claw-shaped or "lever-type" design. In 1855, Robert Yeates, devised the first claw-ended can opener with a hand-operated tool that haggled its way around the top of metal cans.
