In 24 hours, on a quiet two-block stretch with four-way stops at each intersection, my children, on their bikes, had a driver honk at them the entire way, and another pass so close they could have reached out and touched the car. All for the sake of rushing to the next 4 way stop.
I had this happen when my twins were 3. I was thankful we could give the man the same type of seat 2 rows down and I think everyone was thankful a 3yr old wasn’t by herself
That said I did consider dumping the two three yr olds in their seat and sitting alone lol
When you have an irresponsible parent who doesn’t pack gloves for our bike ride, the children get to stop at fun cafes to warm their little fingers.
Was there dancing allowed? The last time I saw him play we were told by security that there is no dancing or standing at the concert… we were eventually escorted out.
We are a small parade when we bike- music, me riding a cargo bike with flower stickers all over it, 2 kids either on their own bikes or in the cargo bike, sometimes we have balloons or bubbles, often riding at 10km/hr and still we have been told “sorry! Didn’t see you, you just came out of nowhere!”
When 9/11 happened, and flights were diverted to NFLD, people opened their homes, and made sure everyone was taken care of. I would go as far as to say if you told the first person you see that you were stuck and didn’t have a coat, that one would be dropped off for you at the pub.

I was thinking the same thing. My 7 yr olds bike on their own bikes now and we would never consider that a viable route
What is the criteria to have them installed? We live in a condo building and the board will not install new ones but most of the year there are bikes locked up on polls near my unit. Yes, some are our friends but some as also people in community going to stores and visiting people.

The consumerism of it is what gets me… we could go to free outdoor playgrounds or we can pay $25/child to play at an indoor playground and not be allowed to bring snacks in with us. Why has it become the norm to spend $50 minimum for your kids to play?

The Discussion
I got added rider (I have no clue what the spelling is) to cover any item we own up to a $100k- this covers theft of the bikes. This was the cheapest option I found and I haven’t had anyone beat it yet when I chat with brokers each year.
To add to this, insurance. We chose to get insurance on our bikes, but you really need to confirm your coverage.
lol we went through 2 batteries in a short time. My mechanic said we really need to drive more
Oh yes, that’s a good one also! You don’t want to spend thousands on a bike, and have it be an ornament in storage
Weight is a consideration and if you are going to carry it on a bike rack on your car. It might not be a huge obstacle for non cargo bikes but for myself that was a piece that had to consider.
Charging- can the battery come off? We are a condo family and don’t have plugs in the bike room.
Ok, I’m not too far off then! Mine are 7.5 and keep asking if they can bike to the park alone.
