Last ren fest season I got a commission to make a leather lid for someones leather mug! It was satisfying to have the lid fit perfectly in the end.
That's enough adventures in embroidery for tonight 🌿 🪻❇️
Would probably look better with actual embroidery floss but I'm satisfied with this for now
My first attempt at embroidery! Design is just something I freehanded so not historical or anything. I also used DMC cotton thread and not proper embroidery thread because that's just what I had. This is already fun! Will probably try more later
The same embroidery pictured above, before it was framed. It was a pillow with dirty orange short fringe
The matte frame that came with the picture frame, but with extra card stock glued on, covering the matte hole and reinforcing it
The backside of the embroidery lashed onto the matte cardstock frame with butchers twine. It has a black rubber square on it because I used a shipping envelope with my real info on it for the reinforcement and just wanted to cover it up whoops
1. Cut it as far away from the embroidery as I could
2.(Not pictured) Soaked a bit in detergent and dried flat
3. Used matte frame that came with it so I wouldn't have to measure (yay thrift store!), reinforced w/cardboard I had laying around
4. Lash it all together with twine or string
That's it!

Mom had this pillow with embroidery from great-grandma, but it was sitting in a chest cause she didn't really care for the style of the pillow. She had other embroidery in frames so this was a nice solution! A good way to preserve and display this vintage #embroidery
