this new “won’t someone think of the poor driver” nonsense is getting annoying
especially as most drivers when not pleading with us to be nice are wishing bodily harm, or laughter at/with those who do

the solution to these issues is already a city wide ordinance on the books and even with it’s issues is calming traffic
unfortunately some loud opinionated drivers hate the solution more than the carnage
such a wild disconnect to me
we needed this rain
there were tire marks in it after the cones came down and complaints on ND about how it was difficult to drive through
no fooling
the big barrels came back out till the rat runners got it
with all of these reports of dangerous driving how in the he🏒🏒 are there any Alders or Challengers, add to it garbage local TV platforming anti safe streets groups, with the onslaught of stories recently.
this is absolute madness
now the State wants in on the action with immunity
the biggest bologna part of this is that it is in a bill about bikes and regulations to ensure that e-bikes and e-motos are classed separately, which is about darn time
don’t put aggressive/hostile/anti bike legislation in a bike safety bill
so if the City can not be held liable for bad road design & the State wants in on the immunity from liability for illegally parking + “intended” v “permitted”
all this does is add fuel to Corp bad behaviour & pro car advocacy. if we can’t hold our state/local government accountable
what a disaster
slap in the face to all users of bike lanes & the City to exempt the State from liability for illegally parking
between this, the stupid “intended” vs “permitted” & IDOT roads being off limits
why is Springfield so hostile to non car travel & impeding the City from charting their path forward
time and again public transit that is regular and reliable will generate higher ridership that naturally lowers crime
security theater is not the answer

it’s so long and pointless
not cool and a garbage move
what’s funny is they conflate certain words that seem to match their anger but the Alders do not support the vision they have.
it’s why I call all Alders referenced so far to let them know they are being used by the online community
i am curious about the concerns over gentrification leading community stakeholders to fight things like safe streets, trees, efficient transit, and other things that improve the QOL.
if the city builds these things as a matter of course across the entire city all Chicagoans benefit, right?
so, these policies will be rescinded as soon as a Dem is elected. until Trump declares himself king or the GOP breaks elections these are empty as it takes years to develop before extraction. how many businesses are going to start to build if in a few months Dems could control 1 if not 2 chambers?
i do enjoy calling Alder Offices to let them know they are being used online as reasons to stand in the way of safe streets
you can find good information about their position on policy when presenting as an ally by letting them know they are being misrepresented
after our loss the bike community gave me a place to vent & look for change. the number of folks that I now consider friends & allies is great.
side note my recovery was long & difficult. no car payment/being in our space for a while/15min city vibe allowed us to weather the storm so we could heal

🥰
guess we have to up the payroll to bankroll folks to show up here as well as Archer/Kedzie
paging @johngreenfield.bsky.social can you get in touch with the bike cabal and fast track funds?
we had to get different feeders as ours turned into a brown bird buffet
the “wheel tax” is their permission slip
actually had a driver yell at me that they pay for the roads and they will drive on whatever damn road they feel like!
in response to me using the term rat runner
yup, cycling need better representation
@maryldixon.bsky.social ugh, that NPR bike story
are there any provisions to demand data centers build solar farms on the rooftops to minimize their draw on the grid?
dang, that was a good article
I often drop this fun fact into convos, they want to protect the roads no matter the cost
like refusing traffic calming in S&W sides, hating 🎥, 💵 worry… nothing about deaths…, those are okay because “f u if i’m going to be late”
hate bad drivers but love driving
cars=guns in modern discourse
wait, i thought that no one rides for 6 months out of the year?!?
posted this article up in a thread i have had going for a few years. carbrained poster ripped it apart as fantastical and dumb
serious lack of vision beyond the windscreen of their car
beach days were the best days
