Join us on April 22 at #UNPFII2026 to discuss what the Ascencio Rosario v. Mexico ruling means for Indigenous women’s right to health.
With Albert Barum, UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, FIMI-IIWF delegates, and co-litigating orgs.

As Isabel put it, we must ask ourselves: what is power without decency? What is power without checks and balances? And what is power if it fails to serve the most vulnerable in our society?

(2/3) Isabel testified: “Since the state of emergency was declared in El Salvador in 2022, 90,000+ people have been detained and at least 500 have died in state custody. Many are held in CECOT, the same prison the Trump admin paid to detain immigrants who were illegally deported in February 2025.”
(1/3) Yesterday, Congress heard from our Sr. Staff Attorney for Latin America Isabel Carlota Roby, on the state of exception in #ElSalvador. Isabel underscored that U.S. authorities knew, or reasonably should have known, the extent of human rights violations that go unpunished under Bukele’s regime.
(1/3) I'm thrilled to announce that the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers is this year's @kennedyhrc.bsky.social Human Rights Award recipient!
The NUPL is the Philippines’ largest voluntary association of human rights lawyers, defending civil liberties and victims of politically motivated abuses.
(2/3) In the face of persecution and personal danger, NUPL members have remained unwavering in their fight to protect human rights and public interest law. Their resilience and courage are an inspiration and a roadmap for anyone seeking to fight back against abuses and repression by those in power.
(3/3) This year's award ceremony will be held on June 4 at 6:00 pm ET at the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building. For more information and to RSVP, please visit the link below ⬇️.

(5/5) Dr. Saira Rahman Khan of Odhikar opened the training, with remarks provided by Adilur Rahman Khan, Odhikar’s founding secretary and a Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award laureate.
(4/5) Our staff attorney Catherine Cooper co-facilitated the training with ASM Nasiruddin Elan, Taskin Fahmina, and Md Sazzad Hossain of Odhikar, and digital security expert Parvez Alam.
(3/5) With Bangladesh at a critical moment for reforms and human rights norms under attack globally, students shared thoughtful perspectives on the challenges of making rights real at home and around the world.
(2/5) Following the student-led revolution in 2024 and landmark elections two months ago, the training focused on advocacy, international law, fact-finding, documentation, and digital security for the next generation of human rights defenders.
(1/5) Over the weekend, we facilitated a 3-day training for 20 students in Dhaka, Bangladesh with the human rights organization Odhikar.
"We have no infallible party, no iron creed, no all-purpose blueprint... We have instead faith in human intelligence, human will, and human decency; and we know that, in the long run, these are the forces which make history." - Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
(2/2) From marching alongside Immokalee farmworkers to urging the President of Mexico to investigate the killing of a human rights attorney, to pressing corporate leaders to confront abuses in their supply chains, Ethel lived a life defined by courage, compassion, and action.
(1/2) Ethel Kennedy’s spirit has been at the heart of our mission since she founded Kennedy Human Rights 58 years ago – and today, you carry that legacy forward. In honor of her birthday, make a gift in her memory 💌 ➡️ rekhrc.org/48qo2gA
(3/3) We joined dozens of rights groups urging Congress to oppose this plan and ensure that not another tax dollar goes toward detaining people at Guantánamo.

(2/3) Guantánamo is a reminder of some of the darkest chapters of U.S. history. Roughly 780 people detained in the US have already been sent there since last February. And now U.S. policies driving displacement are being paired with policies that punish the displaced.
(1/3) The Trump admin is poised to expand immigration detention to Guantánamo Bay. This time, it's targeting Cubans fleeing one of the country's worst humanitarian crises in decades, in part driven by energy shortages linked to Trump’s war with Iran.
More people died in ICE custody last year than any year since DHS started operating in 2003. And last month, the rate of detention deaths reached almost one every four days. Congress, it’s time to act.

(2/2) Grateful to Maya Wiley, Lauren Tilstra, and Nathalie Rayes for sharing their wisdom!
And while March may be coming to an end, the work doesn’t stop here. Advancing women’s leadership, amplifying their voices, and investing in the next generation continues every day.
(1/2) As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we’re celebrating our incredible Board and Leadership Council members who shared their advice with the next generation of women leaders.
Their message is clear: lead with conviction, use your voice, and make space for others to do the same.
(1/4) Beatings, sexual assault, broken ribs, dislocated jaws; the use of gas and rubber bullets; and guards regularly threatening to kill detainees, telling them they would be buried alive and that there was a crematorium to dispose of their bodies so no one would ever find them.
(2/4) These are just some of the abuses suffered by the 288 Venezuelans and Salvadorans kidnapped off our streets by the Trump administration and shipped to CECOT, the infamous torture center in El Salvador.
