I haven't promoted my 2006 MA thesis in a while. On illustrators and illustration vis a vis "fine art" : www.jaleengrove.com/papers/thesi...
Veteran photographer Michael Nigro was shot in the head with a non-lethal bullet while covering anti-ICE protests in LA. "It felt very very intentional," Nigro tells NPR, "a chilling effect to convince us to go away."
Other reporters say they have been targeted too.
My story below:
If anyone wishes to support valedictorian Elizabeth Yao, punished for having an opinion in her speech by the principal (see CBC news today), express yourself here: bellhs.ocdsb.ca/contact#form...

Jesus. It's so totally totally didn't have to be like this.
University administrations are fully captured by corporate interests; we will never know the full extent of the inside deals that have plugged AI into every layer of University software contracts.
NEW: I analyzed nearly 300 federal cases involving the Trump administration. Federal judges—across the political spectrum—are using language I’ve never seen before. One called government actions “unconscionable.” Another quoted Kafka. They’re begging us to pay attention.
It’s the last week to send your applications in for MICE 2025! Link to apply below:

We have to ask ourselves: How do these student contribute to the USA. Is it purely economical? International students contributed $44 billion to the U.S. economy in the 2023-2024 school year.
Their loss could hurt more than just universities’ bottom line.
Just talking to my comrades and realise they don't actually have an Eisner ballot, as they're not registered.
So, I'm lobbing this in public - anyone in comics (creators, retailers, librarians, educators, editors, whoever) can apply here and vote before June 5th.

Upon revisiting your post I see you meant well and I contributed to exactly the lack of encouragement you rightly identify as a problem. Please, continue contributing your talent and vision and kindness to the world.
You are correct that all artists thrive with encouragement. Yet I also see students and others get too hung up on 'likes' or 'exposure' and forget that real support has to come too, and that art need not be a popularity contest (though popularity is fine to have).
I apologize - I was unnecessarily vehement. The wording triggered my impatience with those who think we just make stuff out of thin air as easily as breathing and never give a thought for the tangible needs such as material costs, rent, food.
?? I hope this is meant ironicallly......otherwise, BUY SOMETHING or HANG WORK IN YOUR BUSINESS or DONATE STUDIO SPACE
"The study revealed that AI chatbots actually created new job tasks for 8.4 percent of workers, including some who did not use the tools themselves..."
You don't say?

I would extend this to university departments...
Today is #RightToReadDay!
Which makes it the perfect opportunity to reach out to your legislators and insist that they protect intellectual freedom at all levels of education and all stages of life.
Take action! Some ideas for doing so:

that's outrageous. I am sorry.
They are knifing the ones most able to resist them through technology, who are capable of actually seeing and understanding what DOGE is up to.

So, everyone does realize Elon must be crossreferencing the gov data with the Twitter data, right?
And selling the results?
He's a private company after all.
What’s happening in the US is starting to feel more like a hacking than an election, with Trump basically cast as the idiot who clicked on the phishing email that let the ransomware guys in. Struck by how crucial tech not politics reporters are to us understanding it
