Sparsely populated Miquelon-­Langlade island contains the Grand Barachois lagoon, home to seabirds and seals. An island nearby, Île-aux-Marins, features an abandoned fishing village.

Another one! This is St. Pierre et Miquelon. Population: 5819.

It now has one of the world’s highest tariffs - 99%. The US imported only $3.5M of its shellfish last yr. BUT the island imports ZERO from the US.

So, the idiotic White House formula (imports v exports) couldn’t cope. It spat out 99%.

I love this idea: build a power cable between North America and Europe and trade electricity when demand peaks and troughs line up. Sure it's ambitious, but fighting climate change and completing the energy transition is going to need big ideas like this, in my view
