Very much feeling ‘worse for wear’ this morning.
Gutting to have lost last night but we go again.
The final death-bell for Twitter has been rung. The kid’s school are no longer using it so it’s time to deactivate and delete.
Goodbye, old friend.
Hands-down my favourite pod at the minute. Keeping me going through the off-season!
Duolingo bullied me into a Widget and now the sad little owl starts showing up at 4pm.
FINE! I’LL DO A LESSON.
Natalia Ginzburg - “What we must remember above all in the education of our children is that their love of life should never weaken.
And what is a human being’s vocation but the highest expression of his love of life?”
@loielee.bsky.social - Great piece in New Humanist about existential institutions.
Agree that there’s a gap for non-religious views and Universities fill that gap to a small level.
Unfortunately, I find schools (my children are in Primary) to still overly rely on religious belief and tradition.
“A plague of sighing and grief! It blows a man up like a bladder.”
Got my first copy of @newhumanist.bsky.social today!
I have the digital editions, but there isn’t much like fresh print in your hands.
Next step…
Yeah, and that path works for a lot of people. We need a solid balance where kids decide their path based on accurate advice and an understanding of what’s on offer in the present and the potential future they’d have.
I’ll always be an advocate of Universities because of the impact it had on me.
But increasingly, I see parents write off the benefits of further education. Championing a move straight into the work place.
That works for some, but University education is vital for a plethora of careers.
