My take for @reuters.com: Five years ago: a handful of pilots.
Today: a $2.51bn industry with dozens of companies across multiple use cases.

How many more ways can this Republican administration do profound damage to America? Even George Washington understood how inoculation against infectious diseases was essential to a fighting-fit army.
@hcrichardson.bsky.social Happy Tuesday Dorchester
The words "North Carolina," and "Missouri" do not appear in this piece of shit article.
Neither does the word "decade."
"Florida" and "Texas" appear in subordinate clauses, after words like "After Virginia ..." and "Gov. Gavin Newsom of California framed ..."

“What I didn’t know was that measles can cause long-term complications. A child can seem fine while the virus slowly replicates in her brain… Because both Britain and the United States are confronting outbreaks, I am sharing my story. Parents should know just how dangerous this disease is.”
Mud volcano islands off Azerbaijan are featured in today’s NASA Earth Observatory Image of the Day!
It was a great pleasure to contribute to this!

"Your retirement is at risk." - Elizabeth Warren on the Trump admin shoving private equity and crypto into 401(k)s
The Trump Administration is pushing private equity, private credit, and crypto into retirement accounts.
Wall Street wants to dump its risky assets in your 401k – putting your retirement at risk.
Nice article about the quake off the coast of Japan and the subsequent advisory. 🧪
Excited to attend the ribbon-cutting for the next segment of California’s solar canal initiative later this month in Hickman. Imagine generating solar power over 4,000 miles or so canals across the state. A lot of Sierra and Colorado River water to save via avoided evaporation.
2 graphs from a Raspberry Shake seismometer. Top graph shows acceleration, with the amplitude of spikes increasing a little after 08:06 UTC as the earthquake seismic waves arrive. Lower graph shows frequency, with low frequency vibrations in yellows and oranges showing up with the seismic waves.
Recording of today's M7.4 earthquake off the coast of Japan on my Raspberry Shake seismometer in Massachusetts. ⚒️

Although I don't like the word "finally" in the headline, this does look like significant progress towards solving the "dolomite problem." I would love to see lab-grown dolomite under more natural conditions than electon beam pulses ⚒️

For those wondering, Cambridge Analytica was widely blamed for micro targeting UK voters on Facebook with pro-Brexit lies. Looks like Facebook is being used again 👇
If I represented the Atlantic, I’d lock in the earliest deposition date on the calendar. Call Patel’s bluff. He has zero interest in putting any of this under oath.
John Korir of Kenya wins the Professional Men’s Division, snagging back-to-back victories and setting a new course record with an unofficial time of 2:01:52.
He beat his own time from last year by nearly three minutes!

Knightia fossil fish from the Green River Formation in Wyoming…dating to the Early Eocene (50 million years ago) when the Western US was truly rocking and roiling. Picture is of brown fossilized remains outlining the skeleton of a fresh water fish, on a tan background of volcanic sedimentary rock.
So long Eocene, and thanks for all the fish.

Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) doesn't work: "... most emissions occur before the power plant and therefore cannot be captured, and that wood has twice the carbon intensity of natural gas and generates electricity less efficiently"

Volcanoes emit CO₂, but the amount is small compared to human emissions from fossil fuels, explains PIK scientist @rahmstorf.bsky.social in new video addressing climate change myths. Each year, human activities release 50-100 times more CO₂ from fossil fuels than global volcanic emissions.
