And here I am still getting off my bike to fill up the tank like some kind of rookie.

Looks like their marketing worked. I’m thinking about getting some of their gear.

I was in “motorcycle enthusiasts and riders”, so it seems pretty legit. You might find some new communities and people to follow.

Looks beautiful, but truth be told - I’m getting old and I drop the bike riding beyond my skill level a good bit. I need something light I can pick up over and over.

Agree. Maybe Patreon would be good for individuals. I already sponsor a few podcasts that way.

Thinking back to the last ride on my Himmy as I can’t bring it with me when I move to India in a couple weeks.

On the bright side, time for a new bike. Perhaps a Himalayan 450 or KTM 390 Adventure.

Any recommendations?

Pure genius

I always thought the purpose of rackless was for fly/ride scenarios where you’re on a different bike for every trip. Even then, most rentals come with some system you can use.

If it’s your bike, seems like having the rack gives you so many more options and better durability.

How comfortable was the new bike for a 300+ km ride?

Isn’t “free” more like 15-30%? I like the app by the way.

That was my plan for later this summer but work is conspiring against me. I’m not sure I’ll have enough time to get down and back.

I like the app. It certainly picks some unconventional routes where I live.

Love the pics. I’m hoping we will see more ride reports like this here.

First decent ride of the season up to the base of Shymbulak ski resort in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

At the end you can see the Medeu ice rink at 5,500ft, built in 1951.

I’ll send you a few spots to check out. If you want to grab a beer, let me know.

Where are you headed in Kazakhstan? I’m in Almaty.

Where abouts is that? I’m originally from Oregon but haven’t been back in ages. I think I need to get back and do more exploring.

I switched over to a down quilt and a good sleeping pad. Much more comfortable and packs up really small.

Looks like I’ll also be retired real soon (earlier than expected). See you out on the road!

I’ve downloaded the app. Told my wife now I just need a BMW to go with it. 🤞

Fastmail is good. Based in Australia.
