Still lots of antiquated thinking in our sector on this topic. Why can't there be senior job shares for example?
Concerning
Should tempt Lawrence into making one!! We have small versions but that scale is great
In its submission to the curriculum and assessment review, @ascl-uk.bsky.social has called for students to be able to take GCSE papers over two years to reduce the ‘huge burden’ of assessment crammed into a few weeks in the summer

Read this and got irritated. Recommendations get valid but no acknowledgement of huge financial pressures these schools are under. We need government to prioritise early years, that means funding

Vague research-style homeworks. As a parent, I can't stand them. As a teacher I struggled to see the benefit.
This is great, thanks Adam. Signed

Agreed. I always feel for the person who is responsible for the agenda. In large organisations, there are many stakeholders who have valid reasons for wanting a chunk of inset. But at it all up and is it likely to overwhelm people? Often. Did TT ask about overload?
True. Equally some of the neg responses will be from people who just want zero cpd in sept inset, and the freedom to prepare as they wish. And there's a clash here because inset is directed time. I keep wondering why we have two days of inset in sept. Would it be better to separate it out?
Anyone on here know what's going on with TCAF?
Thoughtful thread.
Perhaps you are right given the accountability culture around our education system
Agree that it would be hard or impossible in subjects where the NC is very open to choice / decisions made by each school.
Fair enough, if they were reported on. Guess I was thinking more generally about how hard it is to design good assessments, and that some sort of standardized assessment could help schools
At the risk of being shot down, what do you see as the problems with KS3 SATs?
Great! Thank you
Is this free, @drwilkinsonsci.bsky.social ?
