Very good wee map here from SpeakGaelic. The Galltachd section of the B1 book is excellent @ambaillidh.bsky.social

That applies to parties too, Angus MacDonald MP is a Tory and Brexit donor, the Lib Dem candidate for next year's Holyrood election is also a former Tory councillor friend of his. Both aristocratic flag of convinience Libs.
Dead last 🤣. In my defence that was a "nudge candidacy" aimed at forcing a conversation on Gaelic policy & was very effective. Misneachd actually supported Calum Munro and wouldn't have stood against him had we known he was standing. I didn't even vote for myself as I had no permanent home on Skye.
By-Election Preview: Eilean a' Cheò (Highland) 19th of June 2025
"The Isle of Mists" indeed: it's hard to get a clear view of what might happen here, with all of the SNP, Lib Dems and Independents potentially in the running.
Glenrothes Central and Thornton (Fife) by-election, first preferences:
SNP: 1439 (47.6%, -1.1)
Labour: 649 (21.5%, -6.4)
Reform UK: 541 (17.9%, new)
Lib Dem: 207 (6.9%, +2.9)
Conservative: 185 (6.1%, -5.9)
SNP elected stage TBC.
Love to stay up for a result and then Bluesky falls over :))))
Christina McKelvie MSP, 1968-2025
Christina McKelvie's partner, Keith Brown, along with her sons, Lewis and Jack, are deeply saddened to announce her passing this morning at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
What absolutely awful news to get this morning. Christina McKelvie had been SNP MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse since 2011 and previously Central Scotland from 2007. A huge loss for Holyrood.
My thoughts are with her partner and fellow MSP Keith Brown, her family, and her friends.
This aged badly
‘For some, she’ll always be guilty of simply being Nicola Sturgeon’
It’s deeply unedifying to see Sturgeon’s political enemies, both inside and outside the SNP, incapable of expressing empathy for what she’s been through

#3 - Coimhearsnachd: Feumar iomradh a chur ann air obair coimhearsnachd. Chan eil e idir soilleir an-dràsta dè a' bhuaidh a bhios aig a' Bhile air cleachdadh sa choimhearsnachd. Feumar Planadh Cànain Ionadail a chur ris a' Bhile. #Gàidhlig
#2 - Meud: Feumar meud nan Sgìrean Cànain a chuingeachadh - chan eil còir aca a bhith nas motha na Uàrd Comhairle san àbhaist gus am bi dlùth-cheangal aca ris na coimhearsnachdan #Gàidhlig.
Fhad 's a tha co-labhairt mhòr a' dol aig Comann na Gàidhlig - feumar cuimhneachadh gur e Bile nan Cànanan Albannach an dòigh as fheàrr piseach a thoirt air cùisean an-dràsta. Tha trì puingean a dh'fheumar cur ris a' Bhile ma tha buaidh gu bhith aige air cleachdadh na #Gàidhlig.
#1 - Sgìrean le 20%
Much more likely to be 'Glas Achadh' doubt the city was named after a stray grey dog...
The richest 1% wages have skyrocketed 182% since 1979.
Meanwhile, bottom 90% wages have seen just 44% growth.
Trickle down economics was always a hoax.
NEW: Scottish Labour's by-election blunder could cost Glasgow council £200k - but a row has broken out over who should pay.
🗣️'Perhaps the multi-millionaires who run and bankroll the party can dip into their pockets,' the SNP's Susan Aitken said ⬇️
Chimes with findings by Survation for BBS earlier this year, albeit framed in context of public funding for parties; 51% selected public funding with donations cap options (32% cap, 19% effectively ban), vs 9% public funding with no cap, and 16% saying private donations only.

4. In the UK, they managed to preserve almost everything: the House of Lords, the Privy Council, first-past-the-post, Henry VIII powers, presumed consent between elections and all the other tricks and ruses that make a mockery of the concept of “rule by the people”.
1. Consent in our pseudo-democracies is strained at the best of times, but it hangs on the belief that there is some kind of justice: through inquiries, tribunals, sometimes even the law, powerful people who commit crimes against us will one day be held to account. But what if this no longer works?🧵
Absolutely unbelievable: the Lib Dem councillor elected *last week* has already resigned. Utterly gobsmacking, though not entirely without precedent; an Elgin councillor quit within a week or two of the 2017 elections. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politic...

🌹 During the election, Labour promised to cut energy bills by £300.
🥀 Bills are now forecast to rise in January by £168 on average, since Labour got in.
💷 A £468 cut is now required to meet that promise.
