Yes, my landlord accidentally shorted my house’s power cables and that ended up melting my fiber entry point. Good chance to clean up the rest of my house. It’s pretty liveable now.

It prompted me to think about trying Windows 10 on ARM on one of these things. But I should start scrapping project ideas. It took me two years to finish this one. Argh.
Time to get a secondary WAN working with an old phone and a USB to Ethernet adapter then.

All of this is pretty cool but it took me quite a few hours to get Windows 10 Mobile to work on this Lumia 435. It was “supposedly supported”, but it really depended on the region and the update servers are gone, so I got all the diff packages that upgraded all the modules in Windows and pushed them

Windows Phones had two different types of bootloaders depending on the hardware they ran on. Basically Qualcomm redid a ton of the bootloader code when they moved from the Snapdragon S4 to the 200-800 series, and it made it certainly easy to open the bootloader and achieve R/W access

Not really, it’s just that alongside Wine 11, FEX (a really good X86-AMD64 emulator for ARM64) got some pretty cool upgrades

Full R/W access to this old phone. This is pretty rad.
