We live in an age where young men are bombarded by morons telling them they are entitled to get sex if they act like violent thugs. As a father, I feel like it is me against all of social media. Blocking victims doesn't help me to raise him right. It works against good parenting.

I talk to my son about consent. I tell him he can't make an assumption. He needs to state clearly "Do you want this to happen? If you are not sure we should stop now. I will respect your decision and abide by it." And then do exactly that. This is not just for her well-being, but for his as well.

I agree that refusing to allow the proper language to be used only results in the abusers feeling more empowered. Victims are more likely to be shamed not to come forward because "such matters are not to be discussed!" Platforms have no right to silence appropriate use of terms.

I'm venting, but I agree that the patriarchy we live under is failing us. If it was such a good way to lead humanity into the future, then it wouldn't be terrified of DEI and equal pay. It pretends to portray strength, but it is cowardly and weak. We need to do better.

Apologies for the long rant!

All I want is to enjoy nature. I want to be in the great outdoors with my wife and kids without having to deal with wannabe tough guys.

I won't start about how the same stupidity is ruining the environment. Giant trucks, beer cans & cigarette butts ruining camp sites is just the tip of the problem.

I go backpacking or camping, and I am surrounded by grown men playing soldier who can't start a fire without gasoline, but they will lecture for hours on guns. They can't treat a bee sting, or patch up a nasty scrape, but they buy ridiculous knives to wear on their belts & can't carve a tent stake.

I'm in no way saying this is equal to what others have suffered. My point is that this problem is not going away if we ignore it.

It will get worse.

And I am so tired of this bullshit macho culture. It poisons everyone and corrupts anything it contacts.

Any parent paying attention sees how our culture is willing to victimize our daughters and indoctrinate our sons. My daughter is perceived as a sexual conquest, my son is sought out as a recruit for violent organizations. Both are just slabs of meat for the grinder of late stage capitalism.
