I spoke with CNNi's Linda Kinkade about how the FIFA greed machine is revving up ahead of the 2026 World Cup
It's not like I have any hostility toward Arsenal. I really don't. But this 2-1 result, seeing the team twist in the wind, is... a feeling. It's not like Spurs are getting anywhere anytime soon BUT at least I understand that all fans suffer. ALL OF THEM.

"it doesn’t surprise me a bit that this organization [FIFA] and the companies riding its coattails are reaching deep into the city’s pockets to see what else they can grab."
Per the latest column from @shawnmicallef.bsky.social about the latest disappointing yongeTOmorrow proposal, "If Toronto can’t pull off a proper pedestrianization on Yonge, it shames itself in front of peer cities." Couldn't agree more! #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

Whose neighbourhood is it, anyway? Public space, power, and the fight for livable cities May 7, 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM CRH Gallery Making space for democracy, equity, and dialogue Talk About the Session From petitions against bike lanes to pushback on school renaming and housing projects, the public conversation about urban space is increasingly shaped by reactionary voices claiming to represent “common sense.” But whose voices are missing and whose vision of the city is being upheld? This session unpacks the current battle for neighbourhoods in transition, exploring how public discourse, policy decisions, and grassroots advocacy collide in the making (and unmaking) of livable, equitable communities. Through a moderated panel discussion with city builders, advocates, and policy leaders, we’ll examine the tensions between progressive planning goals, like climate resilience, affordable housing, and inclusive mobility and the political and cultural backlash they often provoke. The session will offer examples of resistance and resilience from Toronto and beyond, highlighting how we can reclaim the narrative around urban transformation and make space, literally and figuratively, for democracy to flourish. This talk is for anyone working to move bold ideas forward in the face of loud opposition, and for those committed to building neighbourhoods that serve more than just the most resourced or most vocal. My Detroit-based friends and colleagues are celebrating that their city’s first woman mayor has announced that, starting tomorrow, students under 19 with valid school ID can ride Detroit city buses free, seven days a week, year-round. A big step forward for the Motor City.
I ❤️ Detroit.
Screenshot of a post from Donald Trump: A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!

Grim stuff. Also, I think the true danger is that any one person has that amount of power. I don’t think anyone could or should be trusted to exercise it responsibly.

A full stop lie, completely agree I’m writing my next book free of this — and embracing the difficulty of making art, like you should.
I'll also state on TDOV that beginning tomorrow you can watch a series of films directed by trans people on the Criterion channel. We programmed this series with love and with hope.
