Okay interesting, because I always think of spaniels as being rather aloof and snappish. But then I've mostly encountered Cockers rather than the other types...

Goldens are utterly lovely. My wife's family have always owned German Shepherds - I don't know much about the breed but theirs seem to have been excellent if slightly intense family dogs.
LURCHERS! I WOULD LOVE TO OWN A LURCHER!
I love Snufkin! And Borzois - are they more common there? I've maybe met five, ever, in my whole life. Such snoots.
Bloody excellent creatures. My stripey dog falls into the Africanis genre and the breed has become my ride or die.
So stupid and so LARGE.
A dog with a long body and light bridle coat, and short rounded ears. This is one iteration of the Africanis.
Just such wonderful, beautiful, plucky, interesting dogs.
Gracias! β€οΈ It's wonderful that you're getting more and more into it!
Mine are Airedale Terriers (sentimental reasons, my first dog was an Airedale) and anything in the sighthound family (I love long dogs with long Snoots).
Tonight's question: If you like dogs, what's your favourite breed? (I firmly believe that "mutt" is a breed, by the way, so don't sit this one out if you're a fan of what we call "pavement specials" here.)
Yup, me too. I fell off the bed several times because of jump scares.
It's a corner of the genre I especially love! I read academic articles about it! But I can't, for instance, finish Rebecca! Because! Holy shit it's terrifying! (I do love Hill House, both book and series, despite it being perhaps the pinnacle of the genre.)
I have the fast-twitch muscles of an elite athlete but I use them instead to remain constantly on the verge of screaming and running away, so jump scares are not for me. But you know what horror scares me most? Domestic horror. Haunted women in haunted houses. Spookier than anything else.
I would say "that's awesome" in Spanish but I don't speak anything beyond the super basics.

One of my best mates was there last night! She sent me the set list and I tried very hard not to die of jealousy.

Delighted at the many answers in comments and quotes. Thanks to everyone who's weighed in!
Finally going to watch it soon - my wife has the DVD and we're planning to watch it together.
Seconding this recommendation - as a certified weenie I loved this book.
An elderly brindle dog with a white muzzle and greying eyebrows looks sleepily at the camera. There's a squishy sea sheep behind her.
Well, this is unacceptably cute. (She's using my body as a pillow.)
If I ever knew that the movie was written (and directed?) by women, I'd totally forgotten!
I'm a big scaredy cat so I don't watch much horror but I read a lot about the genre and find it absolutely fascinating.
Ginger Snaps was written by a woman, Karen Walton. One of my favourites in any genre and, I think, the best werewolf film ever.
Never visiting my father-in-law's birth state, then. πΆ

I'm also not a fan. I can't really think of what food from "my culture" I actively dislike... probably gefilte fish.
