For those wondering, the NCAA has an intricate official procedure for who gets to take home the trophy if there's a tie at the top. 😜

From unrecruited walk-on once told he, quote, "wasn't NCAA material" (luckily, not by me), to National Champion.

Kelton Christiansen's journey—he's also competing on two bum hips—is the kind of sports story they make movies about.

Hard to put into words how much we're gonna miss our co-captain.

Ignacio Yockers (senior), Tyler Flores (junior) and Colby Aranda (freshman) were the core of our pommel horse lineup this season and each went 100% on the year.

Not a single fall, from any of them, from the first meet through NCAA finals 🤯

That's some top-notch #OUDNA

What began as gag gift became a rite of passage. The jacket is filled with notes, advice and messages from OU gymnasts across the generations, walk-ons to Olympians.

Tradition became more poignant after Killen's untimely loss in 2018. Never don't think of Jer when new Sooner slips into the pleather

In a Sooner tradition that began in 1994 with Jeremy Killen, Nathan Roman tapped by his teammates as the keeper of the coveted "Roni Rone" jacket for 2026

Who dons the pleather picked by winner before them, in this case Brandon Zepeda-Orth, after NCAA finals

Sooner teams have finished 1st or 2nd 21 of the past 27 seasons, and never lower than 4th. No other team can say that.

These guys are, and should be, beyond proud of accomplishments, and the work they put in to get there. Rest assured we’re all already thinking about how to be even better next year

Above would be once-in-a-generation season for most teams.

Sooner standards set high, which I love, but anyone who thinks we didn’t want it enough, or didn’t work enough, has never met single member of this team. They dedicated themselves to being the best they could be and left it all on the floor

Three standout Sooner athletes 😍

Maria Fernandez Yockers, tennis, class of 1992.

Bryan Yockers, track and field (cross country), class of 1992.

And their son, Ignacio, class of 2026. NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete winner and Nissen-Emery award finalist.

How did OU gymnast Ignacio Yockers double major and keep a 4.0? 'No social life' OU gymnastics enters the NCAA Championships without a superstar. Its success depends on a 'great team guy' like pommel horse standout Ignacio Yockers.

"Pommel horse, more than the other events, you learn one thing, and then you learn the next thing. You do the basics and then you do that a thousand times, and then you do the next thing and you do that a thousand times.”

Started the weekend by picking up a few awards 😮‍💨

Sasha Bogonosiuk is the national Rookie of the Year and Ignacio Yockers becomes the second-straight Sooner to claim the Elite Scholar Athlete Award, for maintaining the highest GPA in the NCAA. And my staff earned Coach of the Year honors.

MPSF Interview: Mark Williams, Oklahoma Men's Gymnastics Photo by: Air Force Athletics

Coaching is always a collaboration with an athlete, and working with a team is always about compromise. I really feel strongly it’s important to create a standard that everyone on the team has to meet. To never get too comfortable with where you are or where you’ve been

Fuzzy’s a guy who always finds a way to come through when it matters most. Being student didn’t come as easy for him, but just like in the gym, he never gave up, and I’m so proud—of everything he’s done in the sport AND getting his degree. Working with Fuzz every day for 5 years has been an honor.

You simply cannot help but love Fuzzy Benas. Big skills, bigger heart. Feels like he’s never been completely healthy but hasn’t stopped him from having a legendary collegiate career. A guy that really loves gymnastics, even when it doesn’t always seem to love him back.

Our other team captain, Kelton Christiansen, has made the most of his D1 opportunity. His never-give-up attitude is an inspiration. If Kelt’s struggling with something, he works and works until he gets it right. Never satisfied with average, he wants to be exemplary, and he always is.

Brigham Frentheway has been an awesome team captain. Always had to fight to earn his spot, but put his head down and found a way. Loved watching him develop as a gymnast, and a leader, these past 5 years. He’s risen to the challenge and had a brilliant, and in many ways unexpected, career.

The smartest guy in the gym, and a brilliant example of a true student-athlete, Ignacio Yockers is dedicated and disciplined in everything he does. So impressed with how he’s represented Spain and excited to see what’s next, as he plans to move to Madrid for post-grad study and to train for 2028.

Finally fully healthy after scary spinal infection, Nico Hamilton has solidified his spot with huge improvements on high bar, becoming conference champ. Shows off clean, elegant gymnastics. Everything he’s been through has given him renewed appreciation of and joy for gymnastics.

Mac Seyler just keeps finding a way. Takes every extra turn offered and works his butt off. Just will not be denied his opportunity. A Sooner through and through, ready to exceed every expectation. The improvements he’s made are astonishing. He’s come as far, gymnastically, as anyone on team.

Leo Koike is our next guy up on a lot of events—a difficult but important role. He’s been much more consistent this year. It took him a while to hit his stride, but he's been important to this team. Outstanding student, especially notable in his second language, and a great teammate.

Tas Hajdu is one of the backbones of this team. He has worked hard to overcome technical issues and gain consistency. Always funny and a little goofy, he’s a bright light in the gym, but is all business when it’s time to work. Just thrilled with Tas as an athlete and a leader.

Tyler Flores has stepped up in big way on pommel horse and vault, becoming what I call sneaky good. His technique has improved tremendously, and consistency has made him undeniable. A guy who just keeps getting better every single day, and there’s always sense of joy to his gymnastics.

Colin Flores always willing to step in where needed for his team. He’s done a lot of work to get back to full strength on floor and vault, and you can expect to see him out there more next year, now that he’s got back to his baseline. Already good, with lots of untapped potential in the bank.

Francisco Velez Belendez came into this season with whole new perspective. I’ve seen him rededicate himself both to the sport, and this team. Feel like he’s done the work and come into his own. Cisco has big aspirations for Puerto Rico, and I’ve seen improvement across the board.

Brandon Zepeda-Orth fought through struggles with his knee, which has kept him from training as consistently as he would like, but he’s still managed upgrades and his high bar remains one of the best in the country. Brandon pushes to be better every day, and gives his all to this team.

An All-American his freshman year, Maxim Bereznev has spent 18 months recovering from serious shoulder surgery. Now, he’s champing at bit to get back out and perform again, just needs bit more of what we don’t have—time. Always a pleasure to have in the gym, everyone loves Max.
