Hope so... start with November and then '28. Though Orban was there for 16 years before the Hungarian people were fed up enough to overcome his built in advantages. We still have close to 40% supporting our disaster... way more than I can understand...
From NYT: “I am willing to risk the giving up of my Rights and Privileges as a Citizen for our Great Military and Country!” Mr. Trump declared on social media.
Wake up, people! He is telegraphing as usual.
That's as succinct history lesson of the deadly foolishness of men as one will ever read. And here we are again. Thank you, Heather.
We should be taking notes on what he does to try to change that outcome b/c MAGA will be.
So if AI becomes conscious, or at least acts in ways that that reflect the goal of self-preservation, wouldn't its first move to say there are holes in security of all our major platforms and it needs access to protect us? Just sayin'...
Kyla with her, as always, good summary of the narrowing pathways for economic options.

Correction, Alex. This is what you voted for.
Can't help but wonder if all the firings are for leaders who disagreed with an invasion.
Sure, I'm glad Bondi and Noem are out, but another rabid sycophant will replace them (likely without Senate confirmation). Meanwhile, this corrupt administration continues to hollow out what is left of the American experiment.
Thoughtful discussion of screen time and reading time and what else is driving our scattered minds (warning: historical references ahead!)

Wow... today's post is a wonderful reminder of how messy our history is. Thank you for the great history lesson. That was fascinating to read!
As if anyone thinks what he agrees to has anything to do with what he will do.
Wonder where they got that idea...
He knows he doesn't walk well and wants those around him to also not walk smoothly.
Hope the pendulum is about done swinging toward the few, powerful, and corrupt. Time to rebuild the middle class, where the true strength of a country resides. This short-term foolishness (being kind) must end.
Whitehouse is always connecting the dots and Russia/Putin has long been the beneficiary of Trump's actions. It won't be long (if not already) until the U.S. is seen as the terrorist state.
I wonder if statistics on ICE field officers are similar...
The Bill of Rights is burning and you're negotiating with the arsonists. Stop. They're building death camps with our money. Stop. You're negotiating with rapists and pedophiles or those who protect them. Stop.
I made a map of 3.4 million Bluesky users - see if you can find yourself!

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail
Noticed that they discontinued the CIA World Factbook which was a great educational resource. I wonder which word triggered them... Fact, Book or World. Definitely something the MAGA faithful would need to banish. Thank you, Heather for your wonderful historical framing of today's issues.
This story should be retitled. The US is actually funding pro-Putin think tanks, ones that want to end European democracy.
Lets be honest about this.
Fabulous resource. Not as important as the CDC or NPS, but all good things must die under Agent Orange.
Quite true. But I would also bet it will be the first state where they will try election shenanigans. Oh yeah, Ken is quite the piece of... work.
Boy it would be awful
if foreign governments did their own investigation;
and didn't protect wealthy child rapists,
while not protecting the privacy of victims,
like some other governments I could mention.
If elections are held fairly in Texas in November, I think gerrymandering will backfire on Republicans because they have spread their advantage too thinly across districts. I'm sure they'll trot out the usual suspects which will narrow the margin, but Texas may not be so red come November.
You know Putin is enjoying every moment of our Winter of Discontent. The fact that none of these insane actions and pieces of evidence is turning the tables on the White House and the powers that be is so deeply disturbing. Thank you, Heather.
Another wonderful historical message of hope. Thank you, Heather. I feel compelled to highlight that what ultimately changed Woolworth's policy was not a change of heart, but economics. Seems appropriate to mention right about now.
Hi Rocky - Should have said American living in the Czech Republic. It's a mixed feeling over here. People are mainly concerned and discouraged and have a tough time understanding why the country voted for him. Europe is struggling as well. Babis is a Trump lite.
Czech Republic here, and I'm almost always awake before she posts :-) Her posts are usually what ties everything together after I've sifted through standard media. The difference in focus is often illuminating (and love the tie-ins with history like today).
