I’m not telling my team until next Wednesday so it won’t be on main until then

my future boss is clearly excited to have me which after months of rejection feels really good ngl. she also thought me wanting to give 4 weeks notice reflected well on me (suck it, other job).
giving notice to my boss was everything I dreaded. tears. but she understands my reasons
well this would be a good time to make more money but isn’t it always I guess
either way if this one doesn’t happen I’m taking 30 days off from looking to clear my head and get my pee clean. this whole process is mentally suboptimal and I know it’s a billion times worse when you don’t have a job currently
had the follow up today. they wanted to clarify that I understood the job was hands on in the details and not just managing a team/ process. at the end they asked me to send over three references which seems like a pretty good sign. even if it is, I still don’t know if they drug test.
not that I in particular am special but for senior positions if you’re not willing to wait an extra two weeks for your preferred candidate I do not trust you to think strategically for your org. simple as
and I have a 15 minute “follow up” on Friday with the people that I had a third interview with on Monday. they said they wanted to clarify something so I assume that’s about my experience. nothing if not thorough I guess
recruiter got back to me and obviously I did not get the job but apparently the deciding factor is that I wanted to give more than two weeks notice so they promoted from within. I told them four but probably would have compromised at three if they’d asked. whatever
oh last week I got ghosted by a recruiter after doing an interview with about 12 hours notice. it’s wild out here y’all
had a third interview today. well they called it a second interview but the HR phone screen was 45 minutes long so I’m counting that one too. they did confirm that’s their last round and they have “a few” more candidates to talk to.
anyway I just ate a gummy lol. the thing about kind of needing a new job but not being desperate yet is you are your own worst enemy sometimes. I’m tired of quitting stuff and that’s my emotional support Friday night gummy dammit 🤷♀️
I didn’t realize we were still doing that in 2026 except for like heavy machinery jobs and maybe Healthcare
just found out one of the jobs I’m up for drug screens which is a whole thing I had forgotten about. I’ll survive without that job but if I’m going to be actively looking I should probably lay off the gummies. honestly hadn’t occurred to me
there are actually two positions open but one of them I’m not sure about because I feel like it might put me in a bad position to find my *next* job but I’m also not sure if that’s something I should worry about now oh and they actually put *14%* in the 401k (which I’m guessing us actually a 403b)
that’s a good point
this a more quasi-governmental agency fucked up than PE fucked up so I think the specific risks are different but noted
are you saying I don’t have a shit personality that’s so sweet
interview is today but my headhunter accidentally sent me the resume of another candidate who is way more qualified so I’m debating whether to bother tbh
heard from a headhunter today and have an interview this week with an org that has traditionally been a hot ass mess but it’s under new leadership and I’m just dumb enough to think that I can be a part of the turnaround. also the pay is good and they put 10% into 401k so
this job did not pay enough for me to quit doing that side work and as I learned when I stopped doing it for a year when I first took my current job, people are counting on me
my first interview today lasted five minutes because they talked about exclusivity out of the gate and said I couldn’t do my side work which seems very silly to me because the client base doesn’t overlap in any way but whatev. glad I didn’t waste any more of my time on that
had an interview today that I think went well. I’d take the job if the offer is right but I’m not going to spiral if I don’t get it like I did the two jobs last year. two more interviews with other places on Monday. one nonprofit and one accounting firm that serves nonprofits
as someone who once didn’t get a job because of an unprofessional zoom setup I must ask are people really showing up to interviews camera off
I also have a Zoom screen in the next ten days somewhere and an interview somewhere else next week so I keep getting interest at least
good grief 90 minutes for a first interview?
I’m really not trying to be a hundred years old but if you can’t do T accounts you don’t understand accounting
applying at a firm that services nonprofits. was looking on Reddit and someone said the tech assessment was unfair because it expected you to know T accounts instead of accounting software and I just took it and it was like “what is the journal entry for a cash sale including sales tax” come on dude
we have got to do something about the job market so places can’t be like this
