INCREDIBLE, "IMPOSSIBLE" #Spelunky2 RUN by Nokduro.
The level of resourcefulness (and number of close calls) demonstrated here is off the charts. In Low% every bomb, rope, and hit is a monumental event.
Nokduro, you are a legend among legends! ✨
Thank you XanaGear for expertly breaking this down!

Extremely little time left for submitting to Day of the Devs, so sharing this to help relevant devs see this.
I only just got an email about it today...
wow settle down there Marx
really nice. what determines the lighting/coloring of each tile? Are they receiving light from the world, or do they have some variables that control that?
Sounds nice, fun way to get a bunch of dynamic ambience and nice feedback. Looking forward to playing this!
Are you running it using some specific programming patterns? We tried doing ECS but ended up having some requirements that made ECS impossible.
Totally. Are you using it for challenges or just for aesthetics? We're using it for many different things, so being able quickly balance the system is really important.
(Tracked down the game itself, and Rhythm Doggo looks amazing, btw)
Cellular automation has been such a fascinating thing to incorporate in my game
It's impossible to fully understand the behavior of a configuration because the massive possibility space, but at the same time very viable to develop a "feel" for how to find a configuration with a specific look
Oh! We're also working on a cellular automata game right now! Super fascinating design space. Extreeeeeme emergence. Still learning how to work with it in nice ways.
Also, about the credits:
We made sure to credit every single person who worked on Mind Diver. This included all services, all short-stint freelancers, all interns, even people we had a bad experience with.
Work is work, and needs to be credited.
Unionize all the way, and unions should work to ensure royalties for all devs.
Even better, if you get the chance, create or join a worker co-op, and make it so you don't have to negotiate with any bosses. Negotiate with your fellow workers about the right way to do things instead.

this game is magic on youtube, man. Random other youtuber picked it up now, 1.7 million subscribers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU5y...
gonna hit 3k wishlists today probably, on a game we've spent 3 weeks on so far.
We are seriously looking into an alternative place to build a community instead of Discord.
Things we want:
- Protocol-based, so it's flexible to leave
- Super simple to join for users
- Community-oriented. Chat rooms, image sharing.
Not finding any good ones. Anyone else had any luck?

Apparently, I missed another youtuber's video on the game that reached 76k views! It starts with another game, but here is a timestamped link for when the part for Feed the Forest starts: www.youtube.com/watch?t=1823...
One last repost of our announcement post for the weekend - thank you so much to everyone whos liked, shared and wishlisted! It's made a huge difference and brought lots of smiles to this tiny team =]
Let's go dig a *big* hole!⛏️

damn, I wake up and this is almost at 50k views... woah. thanks for watching, if you were one of them!
thanks! yeah, we're stoked :D
Also, someone chose the game as their very first video on their channel. That's heartwarming <3 Please give them some clicks.

Our incremental game Feed the Forest is starting to get picked up on youtube, it seems.
CGPlays did a video that has 9.2k views after a day - about double of their average videos from the past month it seems, so that's awesome.
So so grateful for this 🫠

Played the demo of this a while ago, and it is excellent. Highest bar of deduction puzzle quality. Tim knows the genre of detective games intimately, and Ratline shows that knowledge off in a very compelling setting.

A picture of a hardback book on a washed blue background. The title is Next Level: Making Games That Make Themselves, by Mike Cook.
I've written a book! Next Level: Making Games That Make Themselves is the story of procedural generation - the tech behind games like Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress. It's about how it works, the games that use it, and the art and magic behind it.
Out May 7th, in bookshops: linktr.ee/next_level 🎲🔮

for so long I was stuck in approaching game design as a processs of invention. switching to a process of exploration and discovery instead has been one of the biggest improvement to my design abilities ever.
and also, it's just so much more fun. I'm having more fun with my work than ever.
so this question has come up in conversation recently: obviously, bluesky has features that allow you to disable interactions like replies and quote posts. but is doing so contrary to the spirit of social media? is it antisocial behavior? maybe even unethical? interested to hear everyone's thoughts
We've got a playtest of our incremental game up on Steam! We care a lot about the feedback we get, so it would be great if you could give it a whirl and fill in a form!
store.steampowered.com/news/app/436...
(if you already played on itch, it's the same build. But you can still fill in the form!)
We did another prototype last week! A creative toy (think Summerhouse or Tiny Glade, but uh... rough!! not as pretty as we'd like it yet) where you make your own plants by combining genes. Very experimental, might change direction heavily: indoorsunglasses.itch.io/seedcraft
We'd love input!

Ah amazing! I hope you'll have a great time with it 🙏
