'the world of lentils' sounds like Britain's strangest theme park

Treating myself to a cinema trip for Project Hail Mary - I read the book a long time ago but looking forward to seeing how they realise it on film.

Incredibly grateful for having a cinema literally on my doorstep and for the free time and headspace to take a few hours out to enjoy it

Went to watch Come From Away at the Grand Theatre after work and honestly a night Out (that is a night out that isn't a recovery meeting or a friends board game night) was much needed.

Plus it is an excellent show in and of itself, especially when a former colleague is in the band

This is apparently the 'proper' option. In reality The Vergersℒ️ have decided we'll just leave the stock box on the credence table and the Officiant can choose to use both or just Chrism!

But you don't know what you don't know and it was good to have to think about why we do what we do

Okay so we used Oil of Baptism bc we had a dept wide debate about this (the OoS said Chrism) and we apparently gambled wrong. Precentor acknowledged a lack of knowledge of nuance on our part rather than idiocy πŸ˜… He attempted to show his workings but my post Holy Week fatigue brain couldn't grasp it

Beautiful morning, we get to do a baptism, and two of the colleagues I work best with are on with me. Glorious πŸ€—

Okay, bed time for 3.5 hours so that my colleagues don't hate me later. But what a remarkable thing to watch and what remarkable creatures humans are and can be

I am going to regret staying up to watch the Artemis II re-entry when I have a 7.30am shift start but also it's literally one of the most Awesome bits of history happening in real time so I can't not πŸŒ‘πŸŒœ

St Stephen's Chapel in York Minster with lots of tables with boxes of lego on them. In the centre is a six foot high structure made out of lego to resemble St Williams Shrine which used to sit in the Nave of the Minster

The Lego St Williams Shrine is nearly finished and it is so cool - really engaging our younger visitors (and all the staff) in something different and telling the stories about St Will in his anniversary year

Troutman @robotrowboat

Boss: Let's put this matter aside for the time being

Me: [looking around nervously] Can only you see the time being?

Boss: Huh?

Me: Is it standing near me?

Boss: Who?

Me: [on verge of panic attack] The time being

This damn post has absolutely ruined my brain every time I hear someone mention "for the time being." Major kudos to the poster, if I ever meet you in person I will congratulate you and then punch you in the face.

#tinyjoys A colleague doing both services thus giving me time to do the dull but necessary Order of Service post Holy Week count. Another colleague making me some new purificators I can take to OFM. Being busy with visitors but from an internal point of view being very quiet as everyone is on break

He did offer, I did not force this man into this!

A screenshot of a Facebook reel showing a sewing machine and some purificators being made. The text reads 'what does a Verger do on his day off? Make purificators for another Verger who uses his spare time to go to conferences where they have communion apparently'

I have marvellous colleagues who indulge me in my Nonsense

Isaiah 43:1

"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine"

In being known and named and called is great comfort, especially as someone who got to choose their name!

Bomb/explosive detection dogs - they hide various things around the building for them to find and familiarise them with the layout. Thankfully I left my TNT at home today

My morning so far has been coffee morning, filling in Easter attendance stats, Lego building and police dog training. What a ridiculous job

Local pub where we did leaving drinks had a charity box for the RSBP with pin badges including this lovely starling in rainbow colours, which a friend instantly showed me, and then in being incredibly lovely bought one to give me as I left. Grateful for generous friends who Know Me πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ¦

Very chilled day of enjoying the sunshine, Evening Prayer at work and then leaving drinks for a colleague as he moves to be a Verger at another cathedral.

Good to be in the downtime of post Holy Week for a little while before we ramp back up for Consecrations and summer

Throughly lovely Easter Sunday at a local church with a friend, then out for brunch before going back to his and watching Kingdom of Heaven which is one of his favourite films, and as an historian he was able to give me sufficient context to fill the huge gaps in my knowledge about the Crusades

Easter Vigil starting in total darkness is *lovely* except when you are running sound and suddenly have no concept of where the Archbishop is in the building. Opening sentences run entirely on vibes πŸ˜…

Lovely service and glad we build our fire inside given the gales we could hear from outside πŸ”₯

Stayed up just long enough to watch us put some humans into space, and grateful they have safely got there - in awe of the crews who work so hard to make such remarkable things transfer from ideas and visions to real-time on the ground practicalities.

It was the unexpected a capella arrangement that threw me but yes it is a very excellent processional choice (autocorrect is determined to put 'professional' πŸ˜…)

Spotify provided me with a Holy Week playlist which has largely been bangers like Tallis Lamentations, Stainer, and Lotti, but now inexplicably has gifted me with an a capella version of 'All Glory Laud and Honour' which is...a Choice

Never thought to do it ahead of Chrism but it makes sense (Im my current context we do Chrism on Tues so everything is Off)

In my previous parish we soaked cotton balls with the previous years oil and used them as part of the fuel for the Vigil fire on Saturday along with much charcoal

On Trans Day of Visibility I have been busy just doing my job, reflecting on early transition in a chance encounter with someone who came to apologise for outing me many years ago, and living my life loudly for those who cannot. 'Tis good Lord to be here.

Here, queer, fearfully and wonderfully made
