"Top NYPD brass misused the department’s internal-affairs bureaucracy... to grind down a mid-career officer for the crime of ticketing city employees for parking violations... according to court papers."
Brooklyn’s Linden Boulevard is New York City’s new "Boulevard of Death," after a string of fatal crashes, including two recent hit-and-runs.
At least 60 people have been seriously injured in crashes along the six-mile, eight-lane corridor since 2022.
“Why are we students getting the second-grade, second-level downgrade of the real OMNY card?”

“These cards do not survive the whole year,” Vinny Dong, a sophomore at Queens High School for the Sciences in Jamaica, told the panel. “This is my sixth one. ... These cost every single person in here a bit of their tax. You all pay for these.”
The state budget is due TODAY. Albany must include Stop Super Speeders.

The Stop Super Speeders bill was first introduced in 2023, more than a year before this crash. Under the legislation, Yarimi would have been required to have a speed limiter installed in her car, which would have prevented her from speeding.
On Sunday, we held a walk for safety on Ocean Parkway, to mark the one-year anniversary of super speeder Miriam Yarimi killing Natasha Saada and her two daughters on Ocean Parkway. Yarimi was driving on a suspended license, and her Audi had accumulated 90 tickets.
"Alexa Sledge, a spokesperson for the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives, said Linden is the fifth most dangerous street for pedestrians in Brooklyn, by her group’s accounting. She said at least 60 people have been seriously injured in car crashes on the street since 2022."
We teamed up with former NYC Mayor Eric Adams for a PSA about the dangers on our streets
The state budget is due TOMORROW, and we need Albany to include Stop Super Speeders.

The New York State budget is due tomorrow, April 1. That means this is the most critical moment to pass Stop Super Speeders.
Albany must slow down the most dangerous drivers and save lives. We went on @spectrumnewsny1.bsky.social to talk about it:
“This should be an expectation in parks all across the city,” Mr. Furnas said. “Parks are for people, not for cars.”

Another beautiful day! Get out there and ride a bike!
The Brooklyn Bridge is a Times Square in the sky, seeing 10 million annual visitors. Pedestrians and cyclists need separated, dedicated space to get on and off the bridge.
Mayor Mamdani and DOT have announced they’ll be doing exactly that, and in time for the World Cup!
Get out there and bike on this gorgeous day!
"That often means paying out of pocket, missing school or work, or risking a ticket just to get where they need to go."

"Hundreds of thousands of students are excluded entirely, while others are stuck navigating a system with strict ride caps, unreliable card replacements, and sudden deactivations that can leave them stranded for weeks," said the group’s youth and schools organizer Lauren Newman.
"The scaremongers were wrong. Over its first 14 months, the congestion pricing system has exceeded even the high hopes of many supporters. It has reduced traffic, improved the quality of life and even provided a boost for businesses. Talk of killing it has faded."
It will allow New Yorkers on bikes to get on and off the bridge easily, and in turn give pedestrians more room to walk.
This project is a win-win, and it's wise to get it done before the World Cup, when there'll be even more people on the bridge — both on two feet and two wheels!
Giving pedestrians and cyclists separate lanes on the bridge was a major step forward, but they're still competing for space at the entrance.
The redesign announced today will finally fix that issue.
The Brooklyn Bridge is both a vital transportation link and an iconic landmark destination — a Times Square in the sky with more than 10 million annual visitors.
We were thrilled to join Mayor Mamdani today for the announcement of a common-sense redesign of its Manhattan entrance!
TOMORROW:
It's time for Albany to Stop Super Speeders.

Because super speeders are such significant repeat offenders, residents in the top 20 districts are exposed to speeding violations 10 times more often than in the bottom 20 districts. Super speeders were caught speeding in the top 13 as many times as the bottom 52 combined.
Versions of the “Stop Super Speeders” bill have been included in both Governor Hochul’s preliminary budget proposal and the State Senate’s one-house budget proposal.
It's time for the Assembly to step up to the plate and slow down the most dangerous drivers.
NEW DATA:
Residents of Assembly District 23 (southwest Queens) are terrorized by super speeders more often than any other district.
Super speeders were caught speeding in school zones in AD-23 more than 17,000 times last year, or once every 30 minutes.
