I've got a box of hard drives from the past and a hard drive dock just in case. I'm pretty good about backups.

I usually use PNGs.

Mechanical drives are troopers for sure. I usually buy the 12gb ones but the recent one I purchased was slow and loud from day 1. Now it's giving me errors.

I try to work off SSDs and move the data when I'm done. Image sequences always get written to mechanical drives though.

Do any other 3D animators/Game devs absolutely blow through hard drives? Not just space-wise, but also reliability. It's gotta be all the image sequences rights? They take up a lot of storage so the read/write must also be doing a number right?

The errors a failing hard drive give are nuts.

I don’t get the comparison between the two at all. Like a Dragon certainly didn’t raise any bars above Shenmue that’s for sure. It’s always felt outdated with every release with the exception of maybe 5, 0 and 6.

Dunno what people expected. The entire first game was a "filler episode" by those standards. Shenmue 2 had a lot going on, but by the end it slows back down to the pace of the first game. It's clearly intentional. Of course Hong Kong will be insane and overwhelming vs rural China/Suburban Japan.

Yeah this happens a lot. This one is just silly though. No fucking way they're making this thing. They should pull this marketing immediately.

My Shenmue 3 defense is:

It's very clearly Shenmue 3. It doesn't skip a beat from the end of Shenmue 2 at all. When I started playing it I wasn't even thinking "it's crazy that I'm playing Shenmue 3" until Ryo arrives in Chobu because it's like the game was made immediately after 2.

I'm a big Shenmue 3 defender, but the marketing has always been god awful for this game. Part of the reason I'm a defender maybe. I expected a lot worse.

Having said that, that statue is not real. It's not going to look like that. It's not even going to be close.

True. A wallet is one of those things where if you buy cheapo ones you spend more than if you just bought one good one.

I found a wallet the other day. It was empty but I was like "hey this is better than my current wallet."

You can just upload all your old art with a filter on it.

They can train it using higher quality pre-rendered digital assets.

What they showed is trained on live action photos and video.

Nothing stopping them from training on video game assets.

Not a great trade off when in motion it looks like shit.
