Thank you! Today I hated myself a little for this dumb streak.

Sometimes getting in my run is a real freaking struggle. Today was one of those days. Up at 3:30 AM east coast time (after getting home late from BookCon), it’s now 5:30 in AZ and we are at 4000 feet and it’s 80+ degrees.

Day 2751 ✅

BookCon is so much.

But this made me laugh so hard. Natalie would wear this proudly

Shout out to @belmontbooks.bsky.social for making it possible for me to bring some books to Book Con to get signed for my kid (that I ordered VERY last minute).

I say this with love but I have seen a lot of hockey players in books going for long runs. Unless they're retired, it's not a thing they do.
When I was a college hockey player, our conditioning coach gave us a stern talking to about long runs. Hockey players train for fast explosive efforts not 10ks

To the folks who recommended Deadloch, thank you. Our whole family devoured the first season and can't wait for the second.

(my kids loved it too. although we all hate cath, she's so fucking annoying)

Every year the university that employs me spends a hell of a lot of time asking me to give them money.

Folks, the deal is I work and you pay me. Not the other way around

@wbur.org just reported Boston men’s teams sport scores from last night and completely skipped over the @bostonfleet.com results. They did the same thing with @bostonlegacyfc.com results this last weekend.

President Trump is threatening war crimes of horrific proportions against civilians.

It’s deranged. This madness must stop.

Completely unstable and perilous. The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization.

does anyone have a "let trans kids play" or "trans athletes belong" shirt (or one with a similar message) that you love?

If so would you let me know where you got it?

For Easter we went to a diner that my wife noted is a location in PULLING THE GOALIE.

(Which is a reminder for me to get my ass back to editing)

I think all these soulless “I use AI to write and there’s nothing wrong with that” pieces carry the same energy as a 10 year old saying “I want to play in the NFL but I’m going to use a forklift to do my weight room workouts because lifting weights is hard”

I always appreciate (and am heartened by) the way the Strict Scrutiny hosts talk about the LGBTQ+ community.

It's palpable how much they care and it means a lot to me in light of the years of fucking horrors from SCOTUS.

I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.

Jews paused Indiana’s abortion ban — by turning a religious freedom law against the evangelical right As governor, Mike Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, amid a conservative Christian push against LGBTQ rights. Mike Pence got totally owned here: Jewish plaintiffs won a ruling against Indiana's abortion ban, using the law he signed 11 years ago as governor to help evangelicals refuse to cater gay weddings and such. Now similar challenges could win in other red states. We tell the story at @forward.com.
