It is very linear, as a lot of later Metroid games tend to be - but I think it has plenty of surprises that make exploration still feel rewarding.

-I put Wario Land 3 for “Criminally Overlooked” but that could really apply to the entire Wario Land series (even I do find the first one a bit rough). I love Wario Land 2’s multiple endings, Wario Land 3’s Metroidvania inspiration, and Wario Land 4’s WEIRD aesthetics that made way for Pizza Tower.

It’s how I first played it! The bonus content’s a mixed bag, but I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing it return in a remake if it had some of the annoying BS in Lost Sanctum fixed up.

I mean...we always knew he was so fucking done while reading this line and it's why we love it, but confirmation makes it so much better.

Yeah! It’s such a unique game; it and its many fangames are so much fun to just walk around aimlessly in and take in the vibes.

Undertale was literally the only choice for “Biggest Personal Impact” for me. Apart from being a great game, I literally owe MY ENTIRE CAREER to it, Deltarune, and Toby Fox’s imagination.

-“Best With Friends” was tricky. I prefer co-op over PVP, and this could really be tied with REPO as well, since I loved the anarchy, teamwork, and bonding experiences of surviving something horrifying (or not).

-Chrono Trigger is already perfect, but an HD-2D remake might be cool to see. Another one I thought about was Resident Evil 5 since I hear the single-player AI left a lot to be desired… although I haven’t played it before, and I fear that a remake would remove the DELICIOUS levels of campiness.

-I really like Super Mario Galaxy 2! But that’s kind of a given for Mario games.

I prefer Galaxy 1, though. It felt bigger - more open, less linear. Galaxy 2 just doesn’t feel like it’s about space; a lot of the worlds are in the sky instead.

Lubba doesn’t have an ounce of Rosalina’s aura, either.

-Picked Metroid Fusion for Underrated because while I think it’s generally viewed as a good game I think it excels with its atmosphere and horror in a way that I think deserves even more credit.

-Favourite Art Style could also go to Cuphead for the sheer audacity of it all, but I’m more into the punk feel of P5.

-“Overhated” is Breath of the Wild purely out of spite for the “bRiNg BaCk ThE zElDa FoRmUlA” folks. If I wanted a sixth Ocarina of Time I’d just replay Ocarina of Time again.

A few clarifications:

-I’ve flip-flopped on my favourite video game quite a bit. It used to be Metroid Prime, I recently said it was NieR:Automata… but going purely off vibes I just love everything that Paper Mario is. It’s just so pure.
