I had a friend who had a ton of used HP Elitedesk mini PCs. All the thanks to that person!! 😍🀎 I'm going to build a couple clusters of proxmox. The biggest issue is that I need to upgrade beyond 16GB of RAM......and because of #AI bullshit that is going to be expensive.

I don't care what anyone says. I will die on the hill of arguing that #Hackers was a kick ass movie. I wore out the soundtrack CD in the 90's and to this day I still listen to it. BLT drives aside. Yeah its unrealistic AF. But damn if it isn't funny as hell for anyone who works in IT. So much fun.

Question. Why do they call buying something expensive a midlife crisis? I mean realistically midlife is when most people can start to afford things that are more expensive and "toyish"?

Just got my taxes done and holy fuck. I owe $15,000....Normally I owe around 3-4K mostly due to my retirement fund making serious bank this last year. I don't usually touch that but I think I'm going to splurge and replace my 25 year old air conditioner this year.

I have a financial advisor who I just did a checkin with. They asked if I had any questions. Basically I told them to make me money for my retirement but absolutely no stock in Tesla, SpaceX, #NVIDIA, or any #AI company. I'd rather be under what I need to retire then to support those shit companies

I'm actually happy to be back in the office once a week. (I'm randomizing the day each week so I see other people) yes it is a 50 mile round trip from home but it also allows me to use the office gym once a week.

Stargate Universe intro screen with the logo and the ship in the background.

OK fine. I'll give #Stargate Universe another watch. I never got through the series the first time as I didn't like the mixing of Stargate with Battlestar Galactica. Or as I call it Stargate: 90210. Shaky cam + a clean Baltar character + Drama backstabbing For chars that are expected professionals

Same shit different decade.

Same shit different decade.

This is why I don't use #Microslop #Windows anymore. (Outside of work.) 30 years of Win and this shit still happens. There absolutely is nothing that has this file open. I had this exact same crap happen in Win '95. Today its still happening on Win server 2019.

Watching a laptop being troubleshot and repaired. Ever day I am amazed that tech works as well as it does with the delicate nature of the chips on SOC's and motherboards.

Just checked the cost of my insurance for a #BMW. Since the one I want isn't out until '27 and the 3 isn't electric I couldn't get a apples to apples quote from my insurance, but i4 xDrive40 was the closest and it's not bad. Enough that I may fully insure both cars instead of switching off seasonal.

Starting to get back into the groove. It's going to take a while to get back to 3 miles in 30 minutes. Best I got to was 7 minute mile but that was years ago.

Or having people ring the GD doorbell to let you know when something arrives. Seriously I have put this in every instruction for delivery and no one pays attention. I'm looking at putting a camera up. (Self hosted, none of this cloud storage crap that companies give to the cops / ICE / etc to use)

Meals listed on factor's website.

Meals listed on factor's website.

Life has gotten so chaotic I don't have any time to make meals and my A1C has absolutely shown the results of getting off of work at 8PM to frequently 8:30PM. Going to try Factor for Dinners and more exercise for the next 3 months and see how that goes.

Well then. A doc recommending a mammogram / scan was not on my daily life bingo card today. While breast cancer is exceedingly rare for guys, it isn't impossible. Got a lump that became obvious on the side of my chest last year.

Spring has sprung and Easter is just around the corner, so it’s time for my yearly reminder: if you own cats, DO NOT bring lilies ANYWHERE into your house. Even just breathing in the pollen or drinking the water from a vase can be fatal to kitties.

Here's BMW's first all-electric 3 series, the 2027 i3 The iX3 SUV was very good; we think the i3 sedan will be even better.

I'm looking at an #EV #BMW next year for my next #car At, issue is I still don't believe EV's have matured enough to outright pay for one and keep it long term so I'm eyeballing leasing. I also really wish they had a sunroof. 😒 I'd kill for an EV convertible.

You know what grinds my gears about tech? I want it to:

1. Just frak'n work.
2. Get the basics to work EVER. SINGLE. TIME. (Copy and paste should just work. Networking and file management should just work. Launching an app...say it with me.....should just work.)
3. Bad UI/UX design that clearly shows no one has gone through any training on the proper way to design a well thought out UI.
4. Not treat me as the product.
5. I purchase it once and that is it. It doesn't stop working in a year or two. If I want future features in a new version I PAY for that version. Meaning a company has to work to make future sales. Not sit on their ass and just move UI's elements around to justify a subscription. (And I'm not ignorant of infrastructure costs...which leads to.)
6. Pointless cloud integration. (And add AI integration to that as well.)

It's important that you keep your undercarriage clean after a bad winter. Remove all that crap that made have built up in the nooks and crannies that a 10 second pass by a car wash may not get. #Cars

The best hold music was when I was supporting ILM on a call and the customer had to put me on hold. The Imperial March from Star Wars.....not ominous at all. 😺

Oh thank god. I'm going back to my old shift of 9AM-6PM. From the 11AM-8PM shift I've been on since October. I still get to work from home though which is good, but this shift has sucked butt when it comes to having a social life and seeing the GF outside weekends.
