The war in Sudan is not inevitable.
It can end and it must end.

🚨I along with 12 leading charities, civil society and Sudanese diaspora sounded the alarm for Sudan and delivered our message to Number 10 yesterday.
The Government must use every tool at its disposal to push for a ceasefire, protect civilians and secure sustained humanitarian support.
Today’s announcement of a doubling of aid for frontline responders is welcome.
🚨Yesterday I welcomed Parliamentarians to come and learn about @uk.rescue.org’s vital work to help those in need in Sudan.
🚨The APPG Sudan and South Sudan marked the grim anniversary by bringing together Sudanese diaspora, civil society and international organisations with the Foreign Secretary and Minister for Development and Africa who expressed their commitment to the people of Sudan.
🚨Today marks 3 years of devastating conflict in Sudan.
Since the first shots were fired, Sudan has become the site of the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today – and of the 21st century.
33 million people are in need of aid.
Whether you’re a journalist, researcher, campaigner, survivor or whistleblower, you deserve protection when speaking in the public interest. We need safeguards against SLAPPs.

It was lovely to join the Oxford Women's Community nature walk in Shotover Woods recently.
There are walks available for all levels of fitness and experience - check them out at oxfordwomencommunity.com
I’m relieved @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social has backed down from its worrying proposals.
I’ll watch future developments closely for any impact on fire safety in our city.
This episode shows the need to LISTEN to local residents and to firefighters.

Happy Vaisakhi to all of my Sikh constituents!
A privilege to witness the 2025 Chatham House Prize being awarded to Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms, for their crucial role delivering humanitarian assistance and safeguarding civilian life across Sudan during the ongoing civil war.

Wishing all of my Christian constituents in Oxford East a very Happy Easter
Brilliant to hear Oxfordshire Welfare Rights at Barton Advice Centre will receive extra funding to improve access to legal advice.
They'll be getting an extra £33K from the Labour Government between now and September, so please get in touch with them if you need support.
Wishing the Jewish community here and around the world a very happy Passover.
Chag Sameach!
From Russian bots to Elon Musk, foreign interference in our politics has been growing.
We need swift action to keep British democracy free and fair.
It was great to tour Feel Fit Gym with Yasir and Francis.
Oxford's largest independent gym is doing a huge amount to support local residents' health and wellbeing, from ages 4 to 80 - and their users couldn't wait to tell me about it!
Goods produced through modern slavery and benefiting warlords end up in global supply chains far too often.
It was a pleasure to argue for more action against illicit supply chains at a recent event held by [the foreign policy centre] and the APPG for Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax.
Why the Tories and Reform are wrong to argue for a headlong rush for fossil fuels 🎥
This report by @msf.ca is harrowing.
Women, girls and boys are being targeted with appalling sexual violence by the belligerents in Sudan.
The war on civilians must end, and the international community must act.

Great to talk with local residents in Littlemore yesterday for Labour’s national campaign weekend.
Despite the chilly weather there was a warm welcome for Tiago Corais, who has been working really hard for local people - getting problems fixed and improvements delivered 💪 🌹
There was a lovely atmosphere at yesterday’s Eid Extravaganza in Blackbird Leys Park, despite the chilly conditions!
Well done to Oxford Community Action, Leys Parish Council, Oxford City Council, and the local police and fire services for supporting this inclusive and friendly event.

Make your voice heard; fill in the consultation here: www.gov.uk/government/consultations/growing-up-in-the-online-world-a-national-consultation
I’m so grateful to the local residents who came along to my event to discuss the Government’s consultation on ‘growing up in the online world’.
Residents expressed deep concerns about the impact of harmful content, and the lack of action by platforms to tackle it.
Good to talk about
- Action from the Labour government on the cost of living, including heating fuel measures
- making local government more efficient and effective
- the brilliant Pride in Place programme
- young people and social media
on Politics South today 📺
Philip Rycroft’s report on foreign interference showed how our democracy is under attack.
It’s good the Government acted quickly to limit foreign-based and untraceable crypto donations.
But more now needs to happen…: labourlist.org/2026/03/bots...

Promise made, promise kept.
