Charity shop holiday read 1: Yorkshire c.1969. Seems I’m now too late for the Hull-Grimsby hovercraft or a ride on a train Darlington-Richmond and Skipton-Colne.

I can confirm all the towns’ and cities’ half-day/early closing days and which day the local/regional newspapers are published!

Without stating your age, post your favourite film released the year you turned 18.

Oh blimey… probably one out of: Let Him Have It, The Silence of the Lambs, and Boyz n the Hood.

Good morning - I hope you slept like a bird's-foot-trefoil-stuffed dingy skipper - I'm starting with 'Spirit of the Southern', Harry Stevens, acrylic on canvas, 1969. Have a splendid day.

A steam train is rushing over a viaduct, offering a long view towards a cathedral. The image seems to be a stylised impression of a historic city such as Lincoln.

Three Salons at the Seaside A visit to three Blackpool hairdressing salons, where an elderly community carries on its daily life oblivious to the hordes of tourists on its doorstep.

Stumbled across this utter delight of a documentary from 1994 on the iPlayer tonight - “Three Salons at the Seaside”. My mum, who would have celebrated her birthday today, loved her visits to the hair salon. I wished we still made documentaries like this!

Did you buy anything in the end John? I think my last purchase from there was a set of Babycham glasses from the ‘70s!

That’s later than 1990, there’s a Virgin Trains logo and reference to Connex South Central on the station name board on the left.
