hear, hear!
Same! But I most likely wouldn't have been diagnosed, cause the belief back then was that both ADHD ane Autism were a "boys' thing", and something you grow out of too! Plus there was no awareness of the inattentive ADHD: it was all hyperactive boys. Wonder why diagnoses are on the rise! π€

Here we go again.
Used that playbook for denying trans rights & care, ND people are next in line.
The ruling class so abhors diversity it will do anything to prevent and quash any expression of it.
Wtf does "medicalisation of distress" even mean? If I'm in distress (which I am & was pre-diagnosis), and i believe medical route might help, i WILL seek that route: for myself and my loved ones. Especially since diagnosis opens access to non-medical support, that is otherwise unavailable/ costly
3οΈβ£ "diagnosed cases are on the rise"- well of course, cause awareness is too, and stigma is down, and we are still fine tuning diagnostic process: up until 2013 you couldn't diagnose a person with both Autism and ADHD: it had to be one or the other, and now we're finding that they very often coexist!
2οΈβ£ it's the same playbook as was used to pass all the anti-trans legislation: "children are at risk", "they're misguided about who they really are", "they might need help but not in a medical way", "they are playing the system for their own benefit", "we need more studies/restraint/other solutions"
1οΈβ£ Self-suspected ADHD at 41, and was lucky getting a confirming diagnosis, as it has been life-changing: and I haven't even found meds that work yet! People fight for diagnosis for years, racked by self-doubt, self-medicating with alcohol/drugs, dealing with the fallout and with comorbidities...
all the people who don't like kings should not like capitalism too for the same reasons
@seamas.bsky.social a follow up to your article, centered around trans community and their take on hp fandom these days would make for a fabulous read π«Ά
Agree, and it would be a rather easy task too...

Iβm also looking for a job to help us rebuild our life I graduated from software engineering college and I learned html, css,JavaScript and react.js framework so also if I can have a job itβs will help us get our dream real which is rebuilding our life
If I had a dollar for every critique of communism that amounts to little more than describing the modern reality of working class Americans under capitalism I'd own the means of production at this point
It is the anniversary of the My Lai massacre today. I'd say that even more than most years, it's important to remember what happened.
And the role Hugh Thompson, an active serviceman, played in both stopping and publicising it. Despite enormous military, political and public pressure to stay quiet.
Oh great, looking forward to it. Been putting it in and out of my shopping cart, so I'll let you decide for me!
Musing on AI
AI is theft and a new medium saturated with the character, beliefs and attitudes, for good or ill, of those who teach it. How much as an artist you use it is perhaps a measure of how much of yourself you believe is worth using and revealing.

2003. The names have changed but as always, George was right π€
A hand holds an art print with a gray background. In black and pink letters, it says "resistance to state repression, colonial violence, and imperial deathmaking is an ultimate form of love." It has illustrations of flowers, mushrooms, and other plants growing out of, and breaking apart, guns, bombs, and grenades.
𧡠of anti-imperialist art I'm finding particularly meaningful today.

That reminds me of the very profitable business of selling unicorn horns to the rich and powerful across Europe, as they were believed to have many magical properties.
In fact, they were narwhal tusks collected by sailors who knew how to spin a good story. π¦ www.metmuseum.org/perspectives...
feeling called out
Of course, I understand it requires extra work, this could be calculated into the cost of PnP files. There's a number of tools like pnpbuddy.com that can make this work a little bit easier too. From what I've seen so far Penitent doesn't look like it would really need a ink friendly version.
Yeah, and Dario Amodei, Anthropic's CEO, was previously vice president of research at OpenAI.
Different grifters, same grift.
I would say this footsie-with-selfhood thing surrounding AI is about the "dumbest" use of philosophy I have seen in my lifetime, but that would be letting it off the hook. It's actually an inexcusable corruption of philosophical language in the service of ethically laundering exploitation.
...and as for reproducing it: you should have a look at the PnP corners of BGG - there's nothing too tricky for our crafty bunch! We are armed with 3d printers and corner rounders, we hoard old game components, we are up the challenge!
That would be wonderful, especially for those of us outside of USA who might have a hard time getting our mitts on it. π«Ά
A 2 panel sketch disgram of a 1 meter tall pod. in the second panel, an oval section pops off and a demonic little face with short tentacles flies out, crudely drawn.
My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.
